November has seen quite the turn-around for the Leafs in terms of taking penalties.
Against Carolina...they took 9 penalties to the Canes' 7 and lost 4-3.
Against Tampa Bay....they took 8....Toronto won 5-3.
Against Washington....they took 11....and lost 5-4.
Against Washington again....they took 9.....Toronto won 6-4.
Against Buffalo....they took 7....Buffalo only 3....Sabres won 5-2.
Against the Habs....they took 10 in that luck-filled OT win.
So....their November record to that point was 3-3-0....punctuated by discipline problems with an average of 9 penalties per game.
Now comes their last 3 games, look at the penalties....
Against the Rangers....they took only 3 penalties....Rangers took 5.
Against the Bruins....they took 4 penalties....Bruins took 7.
Against the Thrashers....they took 4.....Thrashers took 7.
Record: 3-0-0
Instead of 3 penalties per period...it's now just over 3.5 per game. Angels all of a sudden? Or has Quinn's whining finally paid off again? I haven't seen any of these games...are the refs letting things go? I hope not....
These numbers are alarming to me as the Leafs are one of the teams that need the refs to be less diligent in order to succeed.

The Leafs want to win and Quinn is a very good coach. Both can be thick-headed, but they do catch on—their livelihoods (and pride) demand it.

I have not seen many of the last few games but on this streak I think it's the leafs usual pattern. They lucked out against Montreal but during the last 3 games they have only allowed 3 goals. They still give up over 30 shots a game but their goaltending seems to have stabilized, at least for this week.

I have seen one of those games and last night against Boston. I felt the refs in both games were letting an awful lot go ..... well when compared to other games.
An example. I have noticed that hooking a player's stick isn't called during Leafs games as much as other games I have watched. But I don't think that should be called anyway .... so is it good refereeing in leafs games or bad refereeing in other games?
Either way it sure is inconsistent refereeing.
