Dazz is like Dags, 6'5", scorer, slow afoot, should hit but doesn't. We have a lot of Perez type talent in Pleks, Higgins, Locke etc. We can use experienced young players like Daze.

You can see the mould beginning to grow on him. Anyway we have a cheaper version, for the time being, in Dagenais.

LOL, I thought of the same thing last night, Daze never impressed me, and neither does Dagenais. I don't know why, but I have a soft spot for Daze and if I had to choose between him and Dags I would go with Daze despite the fact he costs more. I think Daze should be pretty healthy now and he would be inspired to play well in Montreal. I would not want to have to bank on his health though as many Leaf fans are with Lindross and Allison; rather see him as a solid second or third liner with the potential to contribute not the necessity to contribute.

I've always liked Eric Daze, but I would stay away from a player that has his kind of back problems. Back injuries are usually the kind of injuries that never really go away. Daze is a guy who played 19 games in 2003/04 and 54 the season before that. That scares me away right off the bat.
He is a proven 30+ goal scorer, so Chicago would probably ask for some serious assets in return for him and with his health problems coupled with his salary, I think that the Habs would be better off staying away.

I know they are not in the same class of player, but Mario has back problems and I would think you would not pass on him if the deal was right??? I agree though, back injuries are probably the least likely to go away and sometimes a player just has to learn to play through the pain which I am not sure Daze is ready to do.

Some more new stuff on Daze, the Hawks are asking for Alex Perezhogin and Ron Hainsey in return. What is Chicago smoking? Dazé is probably on the tail end of a contract, maybe with 2 years on it, and we'd give up a high-level prospect in Zhogin? Zhogin could easily be a better player and we could have him for several more years. Hainsey and Milroy would be my offer for Dazé. If we deal more, we have to get more than just Dazé.

Just heard that gainey was talking to Florida about Huselius. I don't know how much truth there is to it.

If the deal is Lemieux for Perezhogin and Hainsey I'm not sure I would do that deal even for Lemieux. Mario Lemieux is a hockey God, but why would we trade, arguably, our top prospect and another D prospect for a player who contemplates retirement every year. As a rule of thumb, I would always stay away from players who've had the kind of back problems that Mario and Eric have had throughout their careers... unless they could be had for dirt cheap. But if the asking price is top prospects then I would say thanks but no thanks.

From CODE to day
The Habs are in serious talks about Witt.

From CODE to day The Habs are in serious talks about Witt. Let's be serious. A trade for Witt, whatever it might accomplish, does not equate with the Habs' making the playoffs. If a trade is made, it should be a more consequential one than panhandling for dimes. No one player is going to guarantee that any team makes the playoffs (see Rangers).
Witt addresses a real short to medium term need for the Habs, that of a tough, crease-clearing, defensively superior blueliner. Souray is injured, Quintal is on the verge of retirement, Komisarek is learning the ropes, and Rivet has been inconsistent.
If Gainey does trade for Witt, that certainly doesn't mean it would be the only trade he makes.

From CODE to day The Habs are in serious talks about Witt. There's another thread about Witt that expired pretty quickly - only 2 replies. I don't put much stock in it. I have heard that Witt wants no part of the rebuilding program in Washington but they do need some veteran help there. I don't know what the Habs cap position is but www.nhlpa.com shows Witt making $1.67 million. I also would of thought that the if the Capitals were to trade Witt, Hossa is the type of young player they would have been interested in.

I think Daze should be pretty healthy now Big forward Eric Daze missed his second straight game with a bad back and his status is uncertain,
