Looks like he either wants out, or the team around him to be much better. If the Panthers offer anymore they won't have the cash to make the team around him better.

I think he wants out of Florida in the worst way. He figures if he is going to be tortured there every game, he might as well go for the entire pot of gold.
Keenan is trapped in a hard place by not trading him. Bty forcing him to stay in Florida, he must pay him the maximum. If Keenan pays maximum then Luongo is untradable. Catch 22.
I am almost sure that their will be a trade.

And the most likely spot is us .... or Toronto. Who wouldn't want Berg, Antropov and Tellqvist? lol ... I hope that is a joke. But I was referring to Theo straight up for Luongo ..... both GM's won't trade either unless they get back a comparable goalie (one just as good or better) and well who else is going to part with their star goalie for Luongo? Going through the list I can only imagine Montreal making sense. If Mike deals Luongo for anything other than a goalie than he'll have bigger troubles than he has now.

If we were gonna swap tenders, I would think Luongo would have to be signed to a long term contract before BG would even look at him. IMO

You dont think he could come over here and in the off-season Gainey make him an offer. With Theo gone he'd have 5.333 cap space available. Luongo is not going to sign with Florida before a trade in case a trade doesn't happen .... if he signs it will be to the team he is going to and that can be done once the particulars are agreed on.

You'd have to me an idiot to trade a #1 tender signed long term for one that isn't. What if Luongo decided not to sign with Montreal after we traded Theo for him. Now what? We have nothing to show for trading Theo. We have to trade for someone at least signed for a couple of years.

And if he does sign we get compensation. What I am saying is that Gainey will get permission to talk money with Luongo from Florida .... if they agree a deal is ironed out. Florida does not have to sign him for the deal to go ahead.

There can NEVER be any significant trades for someone like Luongo if there is no long term deal in place. It's suicide to do anything else.
Luango is really in control of all this. If he says that he will not sign any long term deal unless it's the team he wants to be trade to, then NOBODY is going to pay to give anything of significant value for him. For all intents and purposes, he is a one year rental. Would Colorado give Aebisher AND Tanguy for a one year rental?

Luongo and the Panthers lost 4-2 to the Leafs to end Toronto's 8 game losing streak. (I love the spin Leaf Nation was putting on their futility: "We should lose 2 more games. Last time we lost 10 in a row was 1967, and we won the Cup." Joe Bowen and Harry Neale re-interated it during the play-by-play....hilarious.)
Anyway, back to Luongo. After the game, Sportsnet "Hockey Central"'s Nick Kypreos said, "If Luongo was looking to make a statement after turning down that contract, he sure didn't tonight. He wasn't very good."
I beg to differ. He made several key saves. Only the first one was iffy. He lost sight of the puck and Kilger fired it in along the ice. But the other 3 goals were on PPs. One of them a 5-on-3. And one of them off his defenseman's leg. (Leafs had to win sometime.)
The reason the Leafs won was because of the Panthers' inability to score on two 5-on-3s of their own. No wonder they have the 28th best powerplay in the league. Maybe it's 29th now. And Belfour had a solid game. He was also decked behind the net by Nieuwendyk of all people.
Kypreos, a Leaf sycophant, could only WISH that Luongo was Toronto's goalie.
