Lots of assets, but nothing of super quality. Carolina gives up a first rounder this year, plus a 4th from Chicago, a two other picks. Zigomanis and Boulerice are marginal players. Kahnberg is an unsided draft pick that will be a UFA this summer if unsigned.

...good thing done.
We needed something to disturb that great chemistry the Canes had. Now they have to give Weight icetime and to do this, they will eat away at some players that to date were performing well.... How Weight will fit in remians a mystery.
hehehe...
This is good news.

Totally agree with you. It would have been more logical to seem him with a team that could have used him at no 2 (or no 1) spot in center. I really taught the sens would get him.

...in the "what the heck" category, once must wonder just who will play center for St-Louis ? With Sillinger and Weight gone who's left? The great Cajanec? And after that... Anyone... Anyone.... Bueler...

A question for the mods. Why are trades posted in Non Habs hockey rather than the Trades & Trade Rumor thread?
Is the Trade thread for Habs trades only?

Weight - 11 goals, 33 assists this season
Boulerice - 0 goals, 0 assists (26 games played) Zigomanis - 1 goal, 0 assists (21 games played) 1st Round Draft Pick - not a deep draft this year and likely to be a 25 - 30 based on their record 4th Round Draft Pick - acquired by dumping the overpayed O'neil over to the Leafs 4th Round Pick in 2007 - acquired from Chicago while dumping the overpayed Vrbata
Looks to me like they dumped a whole lotta dead weight to pick up a weighty gain. I think this deal is an absolute steal for the canes and it makes the Blues look even more desperate than I thought. I would love to see if Gainey could find a way to sweep in and dump some of the Habs' underachievers for a D-man like Jackman now.

Now they have to give Weight icetime and to do this, they will eat away at some players that to date were performing well.... How Weight will fit in remians a mystery. hehehe... This is good news. I actually think the opposite. I think that this trade has given the Canes a deadly top six. A forward corps that could compete with the Ottawas and Detroits of the league. I don't think it should be a problem giving Weight proper ice time. If I were Laviolette, I would move Brind'Amour to the left side on the second line and put Weight at center. That way you don't really cause that much of a disruption. Brind'Amour spent a lot of time in Philly playing LW so it wouldn't be something that he hasn't ever done before. I don't see how this top six makes the Canes take a step back... Stillman-Staal-Cole
