One of the most exciting players to step into the NHL in a long time.
It's so rare that you see a player who is a threat to score every time he's on the ice, but Ovechkin is just that.
Even in the Olympics, this guy plays a 100 mph every shift.
Simply amazing indeed.

When he's not scoring goals, he's slamming you into the boards. When he's not slamming you into the boards, he blazes by you. When he's not blazing by you...he's probably not on the ice.
Not once have I seen Ovechkin make a pass.

Reminds me of what was being written about a rookie we once had....
...his name was Lafleur.

He actually reminds me a lot of Pavel Bure when he broke in: Sick moves and off the charts offensive creativity and the ability to do it all at full speed.

I watched that video two more times...and you know what? The kid would look great wearing the CH! When I was a kid, every move I made was a "Lafleur" or "Beliveau" move, now I think it would be Ovechkin move.

He still won't beat Teemu Selanne's rookie record of 76 goals. Let's not ordain him (or Crosby) after just one season. EDIT: I watched the video ... WOW!!! ... i didnt see any nice passes though.

Well, maybe if the fans were patient and willing to really (and I mean REALLY) tank it for the few sub-par years, we would have had a player like that.

I don't know why the NHL spent millions on that crappy gladiator motif ad campaign when they have that kind of footage of a rookie.
