Saw the highligts of the Vancouver/ Colorado game last night. Canucks tied it in the last minute & won in OT.
Theodore was beaten twice on the short side. Can't always tell the whole story by the highlight package but I didn't think he looked that good.

Payback for Thibault, lol. I love it.

Can't always tell the whole story by the highlight package but I didn't think he looked that good. Saw the game. Theo was bad and he knew it. It was exactly the kind of performance he gave the Habs over and over this year - a few reasonably good saves, but in the end, he gave up 1 really bad goal and 2 iffy ones.

A few Avs' fans thoughts from HF Boards.....sound familiar?
After Naslund's goal: "Yo Theo um okay" "That was all theo, clear vision of the shot and missed it." "Can't say I like the looks of that goal Theo gave up. I hope it's just a fluke."
On the Avs clearing the puck in the third period: "We are an absolute disgrace when it comes to clearing the puck out of our own zone."
After the game:
"absolutely brutal game to watch. the defensive coverage tonight was appalling. theodore, despite making so good saves with his impressive quickness, needs to work on his glove hand. it's his major weakness as he goes down too early on some occassions and doesn't have the size to make up for it. this team gains a point, but they should all feel ashamed for the way they've played for the past month. i think its necessary they end to season by beating edmonton convincingly. however, i do look forward to a potential matchup with dallas. i think the avs can beat them."
"Our defense better start covering better or any team we play will make quick work of us."
"A note on Theodore, it's looking like if our defensemen don't keep moving, then Theodore is almost bound to let in a goal. Alot of Theodore's stops have been because the defense has been constantly helping him out, more then they did with Abby in net. And on that Carter goal, he looked half asleep out there. I hope I'm wrong with Theodore, because I like him, but tonight I just didn't see too much to get excited about."
"Now I'm sure not many people aren't expecting Theodore to be Kipprusoff, but if he doesn't start playing like a goalie that can bail his defensemen out when they start lagging, then I don't really see what the difference between him and Budaj is. "
"It does make me slightly concerned at Theo's size in net though. Many people have commented on how small he looks in net now with the restrictions on the pads, and that his weakness is those top corner shots, but I guess that goes for most goalies. Theo letting in that weak shot from Naslund was a bit concerning, but I'm hoping it was just a fluke. Still would be nice if he put on a couple clinics in the last few games here. It would make me feel a little more comfortable going into the playoffs and with the trade in general."
I think they're fooling themselves about being able to beat Dallas in the playoffs. The only reason Dallas didn't finish first is because they didn't get to play 24 games against St. Louis, Chicago, and Columbus. Dallas is one scary team and Turco has been great. Many pundits are picking Dallas to be in the finals....but I think the Sharks will have something to say about that, if they get rock solid goaltending. Can't forget about the Kiprusoff factor either...and that Calgary work ethic.
If Theo EVER gets his mojo back, the Avs could do serious damage as well...best of luck to them.

Theo is going to have to bail the Avs out of the same kinds of defensive miscues, PPs, and poor coverage situations that he did in Montreal. The Avs' offense is better, but facing a hot goalie can stymie that. The team with the weaker goaltending loses almost every time. They'll face either Dallas or Calgary. Theo vs. Turco or Kiprussof. Who's your money on this year? I'd say their chances are better against Calgary as the Flames have struggled in scoring, but Kipper has been Hart-worthy.

Theo with another faux-pas, this time to Edmonton in a 4-2 loss.
From nhl.com
"Stoll's fourth game-winning goal came off Jose Theodore's giveaway at 14:46."
And Edmonton, who could finish no higher than 8th, sat 7 regulars.
The Avs not going into the playoffs hot...losers of three straight, and four of their last five but according to Avs fans at HF Boards, Theo had his best game tonight. Especially in stopping breakaways. 33 saves.
Avs fans also saying that they stack up better against the Stars than the Flames. Turco is not proven in the playoffs, they say.
Turco vs. Theo. Should be interesting.
