I figured to end the bordum of my day I'd poke all of the hab fans inner-GM and get everyone's take on who we could get to lite a fire and inspire the team at the same time upgrade the offence....go for it

For Gaborik we'd have to pay some outlandish price, like Koivu and Ryder. The guy's an amazing player, has great talent (and health problems) but I couldn't see Minnesota trading him unless they recieved a great package in return.
The player on that list who could be had would by Sykora but I wouldn't want him personally. all the others are either untouchable or make too much cash.

I oted for Hey-Duke. Put him beside Saku and Kovy and you have one lethal offence.

Our young guys are probably 2 seasons and an understanding coach away from a Stanley Cup. Let's just accumulate more young prospects with talent.
Course, I'm just stirring the pot. Now to light it.

I went with Hejduk...when is the last time we had a legit sniper?

The obvious choice is Hejduk. We'd still need help on defense, and we'd be severely lacking in goal because the only way we get Hejduk is with Theo. So we'd be scraping this season. But next year with Latendresse going on the second line (if he plays better than he is at the WJC), pick up a defenseman, Perezhogin playing a regular shift on the third line, ..... we'd be a goaltender away from a contender. Fill a hole, spring a leak .... .... ahhh the past 12 years have been cruel.

This team lacks heart, drive, emotion, muscle and willingness to sacrifice. Bertuzzi, in peak form, offers all those qualities. The greatest player to ever dawn a Habs sweater epitomized those very qualities. We presently have...none...of the calibre required.

My choices aren't in the list:
1. Brad Richards 2. Doug Weight
IMO, both are (will be) available. Do you see a patern? Solid defensively, good playmakers, good skaters and strong 2nd line centermen!
Both are pricey however...would take some managerial imagination!

Edit: I know Weight has a NTC.

I will admit Richards is a guy the habs drool over but Ithink tampa would ask for an arm and a leg in a deal for him(literally)and weight.....it' short for dead-weight...the guy has NEVER performed like he did with edmonton and he's way too injury prone to try and make a deal for a player who has 2 more goals than a guy we're all asking for his head..namely ribeiro..this does not address our need for a real sniper who can get the job done and put the puck in the net...something's gotta give in the near future and bobby g. will not stand idley by and watch the desd weight ruin our team

I'd want Alex Tanguay from Colorado instead of Hejduk.

For any big time player its gonna cost you and if its Vancouver or Colorado Theo although struggling most likely would be part of the package. The way hes playing maybe not and who knows Danis maybe able to give us adequate goaltending since were not getting anything of the sort. HFTO

I can't believe I forgot this guy....I think he would be an awesome second line center for us...and he's cheaper....
Marleau!
