The only way I see Theo going Edmonton's way is if they put Pronger + two prospects.. I'd like to see :
Theodore Zednik Souray 2nd round
for
Pronger Pouliot Bergeron Bernier

I'd be even willing to put the 2006 1st round pick on the line instead of the 2nd...

I say nevermind trading Theodore..... Zednik has to go! I tend to agree. he won't bring us much in return, but at least, it will save us money that we can use more wisely somewhere else !

Pronger and Bergeron? Where do you people come up with these ideas? No way Edm gives up either of those guys.

Maybe we can leave out Colorado for a while. I saw the Avs highlights yesterday. I don't mean to sound like McGuire but in some stretches Aebischer was spectacular.

Theodore will remain with the Habs.
Realistically who would want him? A rebuilding team would find him too expensive and a contending team would find him too inconsistent.
If Theo doesn't start playing like he is worth $5 million per year we are going to be suffering for a long time and there will be no cups on the horizon.

According to a reporter, Edmonton offered Laraque and Conklin for Theo. Imagine that? That's barely one step above a broken hockey stick and a used condom.
No wonder Gainey keeps saying that our "star players" need to bring their A game. After all, it's not lie he can trade them.

Broken sticks and used condoms aren't paid a salary and would cost the team nothing towards a salary cap I wonder if he regrets caving in to Theodores' (Meehan's) demands?

That's what GM's do. They don't offer a Ford for a Chev. They offer a Hyundai Pony for a Bimmer.

That's what GM's do. They don't offer a Ford for a Chev. They offer a Hyundai Pony for a Bimmer. I find it hard to believe his value has dropped that much and that offer is an insult. I am sure that there are GMs out there that believe in the right situation - and with a better D corps - Theodore would perform well.

I find it hard to believe his value has dropped that much and that offer is an insult. His level of play has dropped but not as much as this "reported" offer indicates. But when you combine it with a bloated salary... his value has plummeted.

Let's be realistic. He appears to have lost the edge. That focus he used to have. He goes down way too early and just can't keep up with the speed of play. His legs were his meal ticket and now they've just become cumbersome. Huge rebounds. No control. It doesn't appear as though he'll be able to get himself out of it. Maybe a sports psychologist is in order. Otherwise, he's completely worthless to every team out there, while sucking $5+ million out of the Habs salary cap. It's not like he's not trying. Tonight after he got pulled, it looked like it took everything to prevent himself from bursting into in tears on the bench. I feel for the guy, I do, but at some point Gainey has to put someone in the net that can actually stop a puck. My son's a goalie and I know first hand that there's a fine line between a hero and a bum. I hope Theo somehow finds his way out of this mess before he gets demoted to the ECHL.

In Theo's hayday he was a goaltender playing with no pressure. He had a small contract and the team in front of him was lousy. He could do no wrong and if he hit a rough spot the fans and media ignored it and waited for the next game.
How times change.
Success breeds expectation of more success. Big contracts bring the expectation of stellar play no matter what the circumstances may be. Now Theo is facing tons of pressure and high expectations. The truth is that he isn't handling it very well.
You could see the excuses creep into his interviews during the last season. He wouldn't take responsibility for anything and fans won't forgive him for that.
Everything that could be bungled has been... by Theo, by his agent (who should be schooling him on PR) and by management.
It is a total mess and I don't think one or two games will turn it around permanently.

.... Now Theo is facing tons of pressure and high expectations. The truth is that he isn't handling it very well. I agree with you 100% up to this point. I noticed over the past couple of seasons that he's owned up more and more to his own failings. He isn't taking 100% responsibility, but he's taking some. We're back in agreement.

The old addage goes, when you stop trying to improve yourself, no matter how good you are, someone will eventually catch up and surpass you. Maybe it's not an old addage rather something I just made up, but, it sounds good. The shooters have studied him and have learned his faults and they exploit them. (I know, lately it seems they just have to shoot) He has to change, adapt and evolve as time goes on. Patrick Roy was a completely different goalie, equipment alterations aside, in the beginning than he was when he retired.

Its scary to think we might be stuck with him in nets and against our cap for another 2 years, unless he wakes up big time. I just want him to be average at the moment, forget the form he was in when he won MVP, just average for now. For those of you that want to trade him, I can name 3 goalies I would want before him this year that might be available , Biron, Kolzig and Toskala, Raycroft etc.... so who in their right mind would take his contract when you can play it safe with the goalies I mentionned. Ya we are in troubled waters and I know the axe will fall soon on some heads in that room, but I can guarantee Theo ain't going nowhere. Maybe its time to change the goalie coach?? I don't know wasn't Melanson supposed at the beginning of the season to help out with a flaw he had noticed in his game, seems that flaw has become something monstrous. I am the first to blame Theo but maybe its time to drastically change the environment he works in.

I think that it's time for Theo to go back to his old equipment.
Something, anything, needs to be done for him to get back on track.
Right now, he is one of the biggest embarassments in the league.

Well Belfour would be in the same boat as Theo as far as being an embarrassment so Theo is not alone.
Belfour needs to retire and Theo needs out of Montreal. Too many distractions perhaps.

Too many distractions perhaps. Maybe. There are a lot of things going on at a personnal level for him, maybe he could use a change of scenery... Go someplace where people won't ask him if his familly is out of prison yet, if his father in law is out of prison, if his Vezina year wasn't a fluke, etc...

Theo indeed looks like someone who need a change of scenery. My only wish is that if we do move him, we move him to the other conference.

Move him to LA for Labarbera. Then he can back Garon up. Maybe the Kings will throw in Robitaille so he can finish his career in his home province.
