Apparently Owen Nolan has been cleared to play, here are the list of teams rumored to be interested. As per Eklund's Blog:
San Jose (3) Ottawa (3) Montreal (3) Calgary (2) Boston (2) La Kings (2) Buffalo (1) Minnesota (1) Phoenix (1) Edmonton(1)
As you can see Montreal is one of the interested teams.
Do you think we should sign him for the rest of the season?

I would definitely take him for 3 months only but I doubt he would come here. Especially for only 3 months. Really, what motivation would he have ? The only bait would be a longer term contract which I am not quite sure would be a good thing. he will probably go to a contender...Ottawa (Not to mention he would get a chance of vendetta with the Leafs)

Eklund just listed half the league....he should have put all 30 teams on there just to be on the safe side.

What do the 3's, 2's and 1's in brackets mean?

What do the 3's, 2's and 1's in brackets mean? Eklund's rating system: the higher the number, the more sure the source/likely the trade. I think "4" means "pretty sure bet". Or at least as "pretty sure" as Eklund gets. What this means is that if he is signed by any of the teams listed he can say "I had this one!". Bah.

Well, Nolan would definitely be a Gainey-type of player, and we could really use a power forward of his ilk.
Still, I wouldn't bet all of our cap flexibility in him, but I'd be game to give him a chance for the rest of the season, but really I'd want a contract where we have an option on next season: ie, if he works out our investment in ice time to get him back into the game is re-couped, and if he's a problem child we're not stuck with him.

I heard from a San Jose comentator recently, while having a conversation with him, that IF Owen chooses to come back it would most likely be with Phoenix. He mentioned that they are not best friends or anything but that they talk fairly regularly and Owen had expressed interest in playing for the Coyotes. He also said not to count out the chance that Owen would not even want to return and may just choose to fish and enjoy a relaxing life instead.

Bulis/Bonk/Nolan Just wonder how much gas is left in the tank. Like you say, I wouldn't be paying a premium price anyway. Cheers.

Bulis has become surprinsingly efficient offensively in the last little while. He's accomplishing what he failed to do in previous years despite getting top minutes on the Koivu line. Still, I see him more as a checking line kinda guy.
Nolan has got to be out of shape and whoever signs him will sign him solely for what he'll bring in the playoffs because that's how long it may take him to return to an elite level game shape and reflexes IF he doesn't get an injury along the way... While I was in favor of getting Nolan earlier in the season, I think now is too late for us. We're gonna have to fight our way to earn and keep a playoff spot and I can't see us do that carrying a struggling Nolan...

Centers are all over the ice and his speed is a definite asset...but is this solely the reason for his improvement? I think it very well may be! THF

Isn't he back to LW now with Bonk as a center? I think so. Anywhoo, I don't have an explanation for Bulis recent surge aside from this being either a temporary thing (my belief) or that he's a formidably late bloomer (doubtful).
