On Sportsnet West tonight, the Canucks are playing Calgary and Jim Hughson mentioned that Calgary scouts have been at the last 20 games or so of the Habs and the target appears to be Sheldon Souray. That's one I've not heard before, but Souray could be classed as a Sutter type of player, I guess. Hmmmmm. Could JP Cote take Shel's place?
There was no discussion of who might be going the other way.

Calgary has a surplus of defencemen - and they just picked up Cale Hulse. Rumors around here are that they're going to package one of their "D" (Leopold?) for a forward.

Marvin I haven't seen much of Leopold, but I'd be tempted to make a pitch for him. We could really use another good puck moving defenceman. How is he on the PP? Can he hit the net consistently?

Yeah, it was the Nucks scouts he mentioned........ As for Leopold, I like him. He's very smart and seems to be gaining more confidence all the time. He is begining to play with a bigger chip on his shoulder this season. In the past he didn't do too much on the PP and this season Phaneuf, Hamrlik, and Regehr take up the majority of PP time.

Could have been the Canucks. I don't believe half of what my brain tells me my ears have heard anymore. The Canucks need d-men more and that's been their problem all year. Jovo, Ohlund, Salo and Allen are solid, but if falls off steeply after that. If they could pick up Souray, it would be a good move, but Nonis has been coy all along, basically saying he doesn't have to swing a deal...and he really doesn't. His injured guys s/b back soon, except maybe Salo.

As far as Leopold is concerned, thanks but no thanks. I've seen enough of him here in Calgary. For a player who is supposed to offensively gifted, he's got zero goals this year, and he's certainly not an aggressive defencemen by any means.
