Got this off of Spector's.
WAYMORESPORTS.COM: recently reported a rumour that would have the Detroit Red Wings, deep on centres but short on scoring wingers, deal Robert Lang to the Montreal Canadiens for Richard Zednik.
Spector's Note: Hat tip to "Lenny". Habs fans might be happy with this deal but I doubt very much Wings fans would. "Zeddy" is a streaky scorer who can disappear for long periods of time.
Well here's the first trade rumour of the off season. Seems a little one-sided IMO, to us. Lang is a good player. He's played with Kovalev too, so there is history there. Robert has good size, but isn't really physical or fleet of foot.

I believe we will get rid of many gifted, yet enigmatic players this summer (Bulis, Sundstrom, Zednik, Bonk...) and I truly hope we steer clear of Lang types player from this point on. I think (wish) that with Gainey/Carbo, players that have a history of not giving it all will not be brought in.

Players with strong work ethic will be targeted. Lang has a history of being a good regular season player and nothing special come playoff time. He'll also be 36 during the next season.

He's also due to make 3.8 next year. I heard this rumor on Code's site before the deadline but nothing came of it then. The Habs will be looking for a centre I'm sure. Someone is just playing connect the dots.
