From Spector's....seems plausible only because it's Gainey's style to seek cheap tough guys...but, captain the Bulldogs?
Thanks to "Frank" for the following on the Canadiens: "From a article in a north of Montreal news paper...Bob Perno and Martin Grenier from the NY Rangers has been seen in a Laval area restaurant last week talking about a possible signing with the Montreal Canadiens.
The Rumors his that the Montreal Canadiens are very interesting signing Martin Grenier (UFA july 1st)to make him # 7 D-man in Montreal or maybe team capitain in Hamilton. Bob Gainey like his toughnest that make him the most fear player in the AHL last year. Gainey also think that you don't need to spend millions on tough guys in the new NHL..."

Is that a knock on Georges Laraque who stated he wanted to come to Montreal?

Is that a knock on Georges Laraque who stated he wanted to come to Montreal? I don't remember seeing much of Laraque during the Oilers' playoff run. If he wasn't good enough for the Oilers, when it mattered most, I have no interest in having him on the Habs.

Now if they can just get rid of cheapshot artists like Tucker and Williams (new on my list).

Is that a knock on Georges Laraque who stated he wanted to come to Montreal? I'm pretty sure he stated that he DIDN'T want to play in Montreal.

Laraque used to say that if traded to Montreal he'd retire, but since he's become a partially used 4th liner and a UFA to be, he's (not very surprisingly) changed his stance...

Just walk away Bob .... walk away. Don't sign any of Perno's clients.

Not that anyone cares, but, Grenier was signed by the Flyers.
