General Manager Mike Smith announced this afternoon that the Blackhawks have signed free agent center Scott Nichol and winger Shawn Thornton. In keeping with club policy, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.
“One of the spots we were looking to fill was our fourth line center,” said General Manager Mike Smith. “Scott Nichol is a hard-nosed, gritty, high energy, in your face type of player that we were looking for.”
“Even when I played with Calgary, I was always excited coming in to play in Chicago,” said Nichol. “I like to go out there and mix it up and stand my own ground when it’s called for. I’m a real team player that has some speed and can kill penalties. I do what I have to do to win hockey games.”<br>
