And if so, do you want him?
He's in the second year of the 2-year, $11.7MM contract he signed with the Flyers so he would be a short term fix and shouldn't command a great deal in return. But if the Flyers are out of it or simply want to add more youth/speed to go with Gagne, Richards, and Carter then would you be interested in dealing Perezhogin or Pleks in exchange for Forsberg who, when healthy, is still a top 10 talent? He would solve our depth at C problem and him and Koivu would make a great 1-2 punch.

Guess it would depend on which internal organs the Habs feel they could do without for a while.

I highly doubt that the Flyers would trade him right now. It's still early in the season and they'll make every effort to make the playoffs with the new coach and GM.
If it looks like they won't make it then I would expect Forsberg will be the most coveted rental at the trade deadline. He'll command huge return in young talent and picks.

Way too early, and I think they'll look to dump other players first. Forsberg might generate the most interest/return, but I think you'll see them look to move others first.

For Montreal to acquire Forsberg we'd have to shed over 5 million dollars. This little thing called cap space .... and we have none, well we have 1 million but Forsberg is 5.85 million. So I ask again .... If we are packaging Perez/Pleky (about 1.5 million) who are the other players that add up to 3.5 - 4.0 million that we are going to have to give up too?

I had high hopes. sighof course, here we go again: who wants our dregs for their cream? Anyone? Bueller? Mike, are you still around?

I know where you are coming from, but let's use Samsonov as an example. So we package Samsonov, Plekanec, Perezhogin (and we still need another because that's only 4.6 million and Forsberg is 5.75 million). We just shipped away over 25% of our forwards to get one guy in return. Forsberg obviously replaces Plekanec as the second line center. Who is our second line winger now? I will guess most will say Latendresse and put Murray on the fourth line. So no one is in the press box, and we are then counting on rookies to produce and rookies waiting if injuries occur. I am not a fan of decimating the line-up like that for one guy.

Perez, Pleks, Samsy and my left nut........... Who are we getting? Prince Vince? Ovechkin? At BEST, he is a rental, and a :FRAGILE GLASS: one at that too. Wiping out a portion of our future is very Milburiesque....
