On balance, I'd still say that Hackett's been playing better. He may have had 3 successive losses, but he looked very, very sharp in each of them. Theo's got a nice winless streak going now and at least one of the goals in Edmonton was soft, as was one against the Nucks. I think a lot of people were eager to believe that Theo had reestablished himself as the "clear cut" number one, but I remain unconvinced. Hackett really hasn't stumbled at all this season: not even once, imo.

Neither goalie can be blamed in any game for the last while. Untill the Edm game neither one of them has allowed more than 3 goals since that ridiculous 7-6 Col game.

The idea seems to go against the grain of the favoured coaching credo: "Lead with your weakness - fall back and fall down. Repeat as often as required to create a hopeless situation, then, and only then, press to the attack."
Why start the only player on the roster who is ranked in the top 5 league-wide in a significant positive statistical category? Let him oxidise a while longer.

Making too much money doesn't make you a better player - the guys are trying hard, but this is a weak team and it will lose a lot of games - regardless of the salaries.

Yup. Just not enough talent to be a serious contender. We will remain playoff challenged until, if ever, enough new talent comes from the farm.

Hi everyone. This is my first post. I don't know if this means anything, but I went to the Vancouver game and watched the warmup and there was a big difference between Theodore and Hackett. Theodore looked really good during the warmup - almost nothing got passed him, but when Hackett warmed up he looked awful - he hardly made any stops at all. Maybe it was just because he knew he wasn't playing or something, but I wonder if he's getting rusty. He was getting a regular start until Theodore found his game and since then he's hardly played at all. Maybe the time to trade Hackett is approaching? Mclaren seems like a possiblilty since the wheels are coming off the Bruins' wagon lately. The habs could certainly use him with Souray out, but I'm nervous about giving Boston that much help - they may soon be joining us on the bubble.

I'd say that Hackett looked nonchalant because: 1) He has fewer things to work out than the other guy (his 5th in the league .926 save% attests to that). 2) He knew the kid was starting. I think Therrien is going for the daily double by playing Hackett less frequently. He's helping the team win more games AND he's keeping Jeff's trade profile/value up.
