According to Spector's. Don't know enough about Biron to comment just reporting this.

hmm...doesn't look to be an upgrade. A 6'6 defenseman who doesn't use his size it seems.

EDIT: I'm reading this may have been done as a favour to Traverse who's family is still there. Good on Gainey and company. Bravo.

Cruel to say, but who wouldn't be an improvement over Traverse?

Traverse wanted to play in the Sharks minor league system to be close to his family. This was probably done to accomodate him. It's the Christmas season after all.

Biron has at least some offensive upside according to his numbers. This isn't a mind-blowing deal, but I wouldn't mind having somebody like Biron in reserve just in case.

So the Habs got a handsome ransom for Traverse. Shrewd asset management even if it isn't on the earthshaking level.

Reports indicate Biron has an assist and a goal already tonight against the Amerks.

The deal's working already. He must want a roster spot.

I think we aquired Traverse (twice) just for the pleasure of trading him away. Nothing improves team unity than seeing a slacker like Traverse traded. Hope Samsonov and Kovalev are reading this. Both of them have a ton of talent and try very hard with spectacular puck control and moves in open ice. Both of them lack the consistant effort of a Higgins that results in turning the talent into a great season of production. Yes I love their hilite reel moves, but the team often stands around while they circle and weave and bob and ultimately lose the puck.
