Hi.First thread on this board. Been a habs fan for a long time, 40 plus years. I dont think that I have ever been this frustrated. We have no rookies in the lineup yet teams like detroit, colorado, boston manage to fit them in. I cant beleive that we would be any worse off than we are now if we brought some younger players up. It must be frustrating as hell for people that are playing well in Hamilton when they see us struggling like we are, with players in and out of the lineup without any success and no call ups from the farm. I believe it would send a positive message to the youngsters in Hamilton that if you play well we will work you into the line up. after watching the same palyers play hard every night and the same floaters being shuffled in and out of the lineup night after night I am ready to scream.

As Marc said, welcome about "Fred" You're not alone in your frustration. I think Doc Holliday pointed out a while ago that this team was somewhat inept at developing young talent and that opinion is shared by a great many on the board. Anyway, as one of the board moderators I'd like to ask you to take the time to read the "Code of Conduct" post initiated by our board administrator, Clear Observer. We all look forward to reading your opinions and ideas, "Fred." Good posting to you. Cheers.

IMO, the only reason hossa and hainsey (the only real rookies, you could consider for the big club right now) are in hamilton, is because they need the farm time. you make as good point about some of the good teams fitting in rookies, but the thing you got to remember, is none of those rookies are being rushed along. i understand you being frustrated right now, as i too feel the same way, but the thing that keeps me from getting too bad, is the fact we have a pretty good core group of prospects (many experts have us around no. 5), a good core group of nhl'ers (koivu, zendik, bulis, kilger, markov, theo) under 30, a good gm. i believe as soon as a player in hamilton is ready to be brought up, AS will make it happen. GOTTA BELIEVE!!!!! p.s. welcome aboard, looking forward to hearing more of your comments. (40 plus years, eh.) gotta have alot of good habs memories. i've been a fan since '74, and i got a ton!

Yes we need to Keep the faith. We could be the Sabres or the Flames or the Predators or the Islanders with a third of the payroll paying Yashin.
We are not that far away. Savard just needs to clean some of the mess, show confidence in some players so their games can take off(guys like Chow and Petrov come to mind...they need a confidence boost more than anything IMO) and we could be back on track.
I am sure most Habs fans couldn't care less if we sneak into the playoffs again instead of winning our division. The important thing is getting there.

Another 12 cup'er? Just my opinion, but I wanted to share it. Most of the guys on this board are in their twenties and thirties so they missed what we go to bed and quietly sob about. This last several years have been especially hard because not only are we not on top anymore, we also have seen a huge change in the players attitude. Where are our old warriors who had the CH branded in their heart? Now all we have is one mercenary out he back door, another coming from the front. Loyalty is dead and gone. We were invincible, we were unbeatable, we were the Hab’s. And now? Now we are a team spiraling around a well of mediocrity. I share your pain and a tear wells up every time I think of what we were and what we are. Later

Oh sure, HA, encourage him to sit on the porch with us, on our rocking chairs, reminiscing about 'the good old days'. Except when we say things were a lot better back then....they actually were! Hey, nothing that a good old purging can't cure. Love that word....purge. It's so Vikingish. Right up there with looting, pillaging and you know.
Welcome Habba. Feel free to insert as much humour as possible. These days, too much is not enough.

Add me in to the Old Guy group in welcoming you. We can always use some new, err, blood...ahem.
When we start to get misty eyed, then frustrated, we must remember that for a good part of the glory years the Habs had SOLE rights to ALL of the players coming out of Quebec. If a Quebec kid wanted to play in the NHL the Habs had first crack at him. That's why the Rocket, Henri, Beliveau etc etc all ended up on the Habs. Made it a lot easier to build dynasties.
When that was phased out Pollock was still way ahead of the crowd in understanding the importance of, and acquiring, draft picks. Which kept things going through the '70s. Of course everybody wised up. I think even Sammy would have a hard time in constructing a dynasty these days.
