As this team continues to flounder I bet our outlook would be much different if we had a few youngsters in the lineup. If we had the likes of Ward Hossa and Hainsey playing a regular shift I think our view of this team would be slightly tempered.Atleast we would have a glimpse of a future.Would our record really be much different with a few young bodies in the lineup? The stand pat attitude is getting us nowhere and the lineup shuffles every other game clearly isn't working. If AS is not willing or can't make a trade atleast try an infusion of youth rather than shuffling the same old tired deck. Yes!
The only reason I have some interest in this team are guys like Markov, Bulis, Koivu, Zednik, Theodore, etc
The Sens go with youth, the Nucks went with youth 2-3-4 years ago and look at them now, ditto for the Bolts, same thing for the Thrashers now who will be good in a year or two,etc
Don't give me the we can't have rookies in the lineup here because there is pressure. There is pressure in Philly and they have kids, there is pressure in a bunch of other cities and they bring kids into the lineup
We are just spinning our wheels as a franchise. 2 years ago it was the same thing. Now we are even older, with a bigger payroll and barely better.
lineup with Ward, Hossa, Kilger and Hainsey in:
Bulis-Koivu-Zed Hossa-Perreault-Chow Kilger-Juneau-Dackell just put a bunch of energy guys on the 4th
Hainsey-Brisebois Markov-Rivet Traverse(Souray)/Brisebois
MUCH better than what we have now IMO.

Agree with both. It is not a sure thing that the team will be better with Ward, Hossa, and Hainsey, but the way this team is constructed now, and the way they play, its not very high risk to insert all three.
Marc, so true that teams need to make baby steps from year to year by infusing youth and energy. Another example is Carolina. They were a team mired in mediocrity until they threw Cole, Svoboda, Vasicek the year prior, into the mix. Those three almost singlehandedly got past New Jersey last year. Hossa and Hainsey it is acknowledged by people who know more about the game than me, have NHL skills, Ward to a lesser degree. What will it hurt to try them. Hossa played well in his brief stint, and Ward scored a pretty good goal against Philly during his initial NHL cup of coffee. This team is old, and needs fresh, energetic legs, and the way they are playing now is less than inspiring!!

Yes very good point about the Canes. Adding Vasicek/Tanabe in 2000-01 and Cole/Svoboda last year has improved their depth and made them a great team. Along with picking up Weekes, Hill, Hedican and Hlavac in trades.
The Habs are alot like the Canes before those guys came on board. Alot of good core guys, but not alot of depth(REAL depth here...not what we have). Once the kids came up, their depth improved and they are now a team that is loaded(3 great lines).
Like I have said before...we are not that far away from being a solid team but in order to get us closer to that point, we need to bring in kids so they can start learning at this level.

I agree - but you know...
It won't work real good if the village idiot... I mean coach... doesn't give them ice time. Of course this leads to the conclusion that Savard should fire M.T, but hell... we've been saying that for some time...
