a plausible MT replacement, well think twice. I was just watching RDS and their panel show with Raymond, Brunet, Crete and he mentioned that Dykhuis and Zed fight may be because Dykhuis was taken off as Breezy's partner. He then added that 'nothing against Quintal, he is playing real well this season, but KD prefers Brisebois'. What a baffoon. What is he watching ? The guy's failed coaching attempt in Tamps was enough for me to never consider his as a coach again, but that comment about Quintal is the final straw.

I believe he is the one who chose Traverse as first star the other night.
Seriously, Demers is on the radio here in MTL every morning, and IMO, he is one of the best hockey guys in the media. No french vs english thing, he doesn't kiss MT's a$$,etc

I'll agree that he wouldn't be a good candidate for a MT replacement, but give him credit where it's due: he coached us to a cup in 93. I'll always like the guy for two reasons:
1. He treated his superstars like gold (instead of running them out of town, like Tremblay). 2. The Marty McSorley stick measurement in game 2 of the '93 finals.
Regardless, Demers is a players coach - what the Habs need is a disciplinarian a la: Hitchcock, Burns, Robinson, Bowman, Keenan, Lemaire.

It's not because MT is a bad coach , it's more he is missing Carbo's advice, Carbonneau knew how to take the pulse of the dressing room , because he not been retired that long so he knew the chemistry of the room and could help Therrien in his game planning and could prepare good practices which they transported into games, which was part of the success last year. Players respected Carbonneau , because they knew he would get into their faces in practices and on the bench, which is not the case this year , because Charron and Green have been out of the game too long , they lack the arguments to get the players to listen to their advice. If Carbonneau had not gone to Dallas as assistant GM , he would be my choice to replace MT if it came to that, he is made in the same mold as Lemaire, and also Lemaire was responsable for Carbonneau becoming the player and leader he became , by putting him on the same line as Gainey , when he coached the canadiens in the mid 80's . Demers, like Perron and Bergeron are done as coach's in the NHL. Pat Burns is like a cat he has nine lives. [/color]

I don't agree that this team needs a disciplinarian. There are too many veterans on this club to get a decent reponse to a coach like that. Guy's like Audette, Chow, Gilmour, Perreault are not going to buy into that whole scene. What this team needs is a coach the player respect and like. Someone they will actually play for because they want to, not because they have to out of some kind af fear of discipline.
