I know Lowe is in negotiations with Smyth's agent. Maybe he's just clearing up a little space?

Smyth's contract is for next season, not this one, so this season's cap room is irrelevant, and I gotta think Lowe could've freed up a million this summer. |

I have to wonder if this is to make room for someone else on the blueline. MA was made to look better than he is playing with Pronger much of last year. That would happen to anyone. There have been rumours of Brewer and Pitkanen. I have a hunch this may be part of something else, or at least a lead in.
