According to : www.startribune.com/1330/story/1010738.htmlour top 2 scouts are scouting Minni and it's farm team...Could Gainey be thinking about sending Souray there Gaborik would be nice! Here's the part of the article that concerns us...: ... "Irons in the fire? With the Feb. 27 trade deadline eight days away, Wild General Manager Doug Risebrough arrived in Naples, Fla., on Sunday for the three-day meeting of general managers that begins today. Risebrough expects trade talks to heat up but maintains he's content to stand pat. However, something could be brewing between the Wild and Montreal Canadiens. Canadiens assistant GM Pierre Gauthier and top pro scout Gordie Roberts both attended Saturday's Wild game in Nashville. Roberts, the former North Star and Bloomington resident, also scouted Sunday's game against the Blues, and Gauthier has seen the Wild's farm team, Houston, three times recently. The Canadiens have lost six of seven and have fallen to ninth in the East. The Wild could be in the market for a defenseman, and the Canadiens likely won't be able to re-sign both Sheldon Souray and Andrei Markov. " ... THF

Risebrough-Gainey....makes sense and you would think a deal would be good for both sides considering their history.
Have they dealt before?
There was a "quiet newsday" rumour last week about Saku being traded there to be with his brother. I forget who else was supposedly involved.

I think some of this has to do with the rumour last week about PMB and Pouliot. Gaborik is a great talent that's been stifled by Lemaire's system and injuries. The former isn't a great concern, but the latter sure is. I don't want anymore Glass Joes.

Gaborik is the reason for Minnesota's recent hot streak. Him coming back from injury turned the team around and when he's healthy he is one of the best players in the league. I can't see them moving him unless he demands a trade.

I will be moving this thread to the trade rumors board later on

If Koivu (the elder) produces like he did last night, it will only improve his trade value. It goes without saying, that he's probably the most marketable to Minnesota because of Koivu (the younger) being there. Even though the Habs won last night, I still think that the core of this team needs to be altered. I've said before that Bouchard would be a great addition. I would love Pouliot too, but I don't see the Wild giving him away unless the Habs really up the ante. Love hearing the rumours guys. Keep 'em coming.

My amateur arm-chair GM procastination skills (aka Magic 8 ball) tells me that if we deal with Minnesota and send a defenseman to them (Souray/Markov) we will be getting Mikko Koivu and one of Petteri Nummelin (who will be known as Petri dish) or Martin Skoula (who take our defense to "school-ya!" and learn them some defense)
Saku is not going anywhere.

I don't believe that you'll see any trades of significance made by the Habs.

With Souray asked to leave practice this morning, we may be wrong...

Maybe he was tired, or hurt. There are other reasons why one leaves practices.

I beginning to think Marvin's right on. I'll be pretty surprised if Gainey make a trade of significance.
Totally shocked if he makes two big trades.
IMO if anything it'll just be tweak, tweak, ho hum, snor.
