That team is a mess right now, but there are lots of guys on that team I would love to have... Chris Gratton, Jochen Hecht, Miroslav Satan (of course), Taylor Pyatt, even a guy like Curtis Brown. They have some forwards with size.
Hard to figure why they're struggling so much, is there anything we can do for them? Maybe they'd like to have Donald Audette back!!!

TEXT It is always a riskee thing to trade within in your own division and conference, with the bad experience we had in the big trade in 1995, would André Savard take that risk, would buffalo want to deal with Montreal ? The Sabres on a tight budget and need to lower their payroll, the nhl is keeping a close eye on how things are run, since they have no owner, they are bound to have to go thru a long season of losing, because they will have liquidate the big salaries. But who knows, it's possible, it could be done in a 3 way trade with a western conference team.

Buffalo may be getting money now because they have been sold according to reports so that may mean that there fire sale may be not happen.

To answer the question, I'd love to get some goodies out of Buffalo. Don't forget on their defence...Jay McKee!! McKee+Gratton for prospects(not Hainsey or Komi) would be awesome

I would go for:
Mckee Gratton
for
Petrov (Cheap) Dykhuis Prospect (Gratton or Ward) 2nd rounder.
So we would have
Zed koivu Aud Gilmour Perreault Chow Kilger Gratton Mckay Bullis Juneau Dackall
Extra: Ribiero, Lindsay
Brisebois Mckee Markov Rivet Traverse Quintal
================ Now for next year all we have to do is get rid of Quintal, Gilmour (Hopefully will retire), Traverse and let go of Dackall, Juneau then we can get some young blood in the lineup. I think it's time next summer to overhaul the lineup with youngsters...Fast and Furious lineup
Hainsey, Komi, Hossa, Ribiero, Pleckanec, Balej

I'd give them 2 of Hossa-Plekanec-Balej-Ribeiro along with Petrov..
I will say it again...I have NO problem with dealing prospects for very good NHLers who are 25-27 years old(like Gratton and McKee). Say they want Balej and Hossa. That still leaves us with Plekanec, Milroy, Higgins, Perezhogin and Ribeiro+whoever AS drafts
2 of the smurf prospects+Petrov and/or Dykhuis for Gratton and McKee? any day of the week
I can see it now..................
Zednik-Koivu-Audette Gratton-Perreault-Chow Bulis-Juneau-Dackell Kilger-Ribeiro(if he stays)-McKay Lindsay/Blouin/Gilmour
McKee-Brisebois Markov-Rivet Souray-Hainsey
yeah baby........

TEXT Yes the Trade that sent Desjardins, Leclair and Dionne to Philly for Mark Rechhi and a draft choice, That trade haunted us for years. As for getting Gratton, He has never been one of favorites, he can be lazy at times, like Czerkawski, we don't need an another like him. I can live with Mckee and Curtis Brown. Get Rid of Traverse and Dykhuis, bring back Hainsey. Will be hard to get Satan out of Buffalo, but if Savard can do it , well go for it.

No Philadelphia wasn't in our division at the time of the LeClair trade...as long as i've been watching hockey (early 80's) i don't ever remember Phili being in our division.
As for the trade proposals, well i would love to get Gratton and McKee, but bare minimum i think that Hainsey would have to be part of that trade. Buffalo would want a cheap d-man with some offensive upside, so my guess is that they would hold out for Ron...all the Petrov's and Dykhuis' in the world wont get us quality like McKee.

*sigh* that would be a tough decision to take...they need a potential stud like Hainsey on their blueline..

Greetings all,
Long time habs fan I am, and I must say that it is refreshing to find a message board with folks who really discuss the game, with what seems like much thought and care. Unlike some many other habs (or hockey in general) boards I’ve been to.
Personally , I much rather see Jochen Hecht in a habs uniform then Chris Gratton, This guy (chris) has been shipped from team to team and hasn’t seem to find his niche anywhere. Although he could possibly on the habs, somehow I don’t see that happening.
And as Habsmania mentioned, he has been an inconsistent player, although his size (6'4, 225 lbs), is something that the habs could desperately use right now.
Hecht on the other hand is somewhat smaller ( at 6'1 198 lbs) but he’s also a lot younger, he’s only played 3 seasons in the league ( 4 if you count the 3 games he played in 98-99 for saint Louis) and in 3 seasons he's posted some encouraging numbers.
Years Teams GP G A Pts. +/- 1999-00 St. Louis 63 13 21 34 20 2000-01 St. Louis 72 19 25 44 11 2001-02 Edmonton 82 16 24 40 4
big question is what would it take to get Hecht out of Buffalo, or do you all think Gratton would be more useful to the habs then Hecht would be? Of course Satan would be great, but I don’t see buffalo handing us that kind of player.
-Zhoken.

Welcome to the machine...
I like Hecht but think Gratton would be more useful given our pitiable state at center.
Only problem is, we're so plugged up we can't really add a player like that unless Buffalo were to take back a guy like Perreault, which isn't going to happen (too many $). So in a way it's kind of academic. Right now, as we've been discussing in another thread, the Habs would be better off by simply clearing some roster space and without adding anybody at all. If we can hang on till Souray comes back we'll be okay on the blue line. The only way to help us there is to move Quintal, which is not likely to happen. And up front, we just have to move one or two of Audette, Czerk, Petrov, Ribeiro and Gilmour. A lot of our problems stem from having too many guys looking for the same ice time. It's not good. It's certainly not conducive to team unity.

welcome aboard.
Hecht is also an enigma IMO. The guy has star talent
Gratton would be the power forward we need. He is a point per game player so far this year
