Is the world finally starting to spin in the right direction? After hat Friday Massacre the Hab’s have won two. They are finally playing for each other and maybe, just maybe they DO have some pride. Another several games and I will finally break down the season. Scary, Benign and Deadly here I come. sports.espn.go.com/nhl/standings?season=2003&group=conference&column=playoffs&P.S. I still want Therrien burned for witchcraft.

There are 2 teams out of the playoff picture right now who should make it: Ottawa and Washington
I expect Pittsburgh and the Rangers to be the teams out of them. Or maybe Boston as their slide is inevitable.

Well realistically Rangers are already out of the top 8. Ottawa is 1 point behind with 5 games in hand, and Wsh and Fla both have games in hand with same points as Rangers. So someone will give them the boot. Gotta disagree about Boston falling out the top 8. While they likely wont stay on their current pace, they will stay in the top 5 for sure. Tampa could definitely do like NYI or Calgary last year...strong start and then slowly falling...how far? dont know

I agree about T-bay. They are in the right division to stay on top with 10 games per year against ATL and Florida.

Why is Boston's slide inevitible and why would they slide that far?

There Overacheiving. Shields and Graham are not what I call a solid goaltending tandem. Wait till Lapoint and Samsonov come back and they have to fit them in the lineup.

Boston have too much firepower on offense and they play with so much chemistry.. I can't see them missing the playoffs..
TB have Khabibulin with a better and more experienced lineup.. however, I don't see the Lightning being better than us for this year.
Our team will definitly be in the top 8.. but we need to be consistent.. I don't know why and how we are being hammered 5-1 or 6-2 and still manage to keep a winning record.

Garb....Although Shields and Graham are nothing spectacular, Shields doesnt appear to be playing over his head.
Shields GAA is 2.38 and 4 year avg is 2.33 PCT is .916 and 4 year avg is .918
Graham GAA is 2.0 and 3 year avg is 2.8, so he is definitely doing better this year.
Shields should be the number 1 and be playing the lions share of the games.
And I dont understand how getting LaPointe and Samsonov back will cause them to go into a tailspin, especially if they are replacing a couple of "overacheiving individuals".
Boston is basically picking up and carrying on where they left off last season.

In the playoffs they were doing well untill Sundin came abck and all there hurt players came back. It sometimes screws up the chemistry.

I dunno about the rest of ya, but, this team is reminding me of the '93 cup winning team. Inconsistent regular season...and all those 1 goal/overtime wins!!!!

Why is Boston's slide inevitible and why would they slide that far? Hockey logic. Look at their lines, look at their goaltending, etc. It doesn't make any sense for them to roll on at that pace. Not with that goaltending and not with that defence They WILL come back down to earth. I guarantee it.But they will still make the playoffs.

Some would say the Habs overachieved last year. Or underachieved.Look at all the points they blew because of an inability to hold leads or not showing up against bad opponents.

i don't see TB hanging on. Just not enough experience. St. Louis is already burning out. they will follow Calgary.Boston has too much talent to miss the playoffs. They may not be able to maintain their current pace but Big Joe is a much better player and leader than Lecav.
TO is the real wild card as it is hard to believe that they could miss the playoffs given their payroll and how much pleasure that would bring me. but I always thought they turned it around when they bought Cujo and now that they let him go they may find they've come full circle.
I don't think you can say we over achieved last year given our injuries. Theo over achieved and we road his coat tails. from his start so far this season he may very well have over achieved although I still believe that he is our goalie to lead us to the Cup even though i don't see another Hart coming his way.

Boston lost 2-0 last night to the Laughs. It's starting. Vichab, no one takes a shot at Lecavalier without me replying so...hehehe... Thornton: 17 games, 10 goals, 13 assists, 23 points Vinny: 16 games, 10 goals, 10 assists, 20 points Plus Thornton has a year more experience... either way, can we get either one here

Or underachieved.Look at all the points they blew because of an inability to hold leads or not showing up against bad opponents. Overachieved, regardless. How many games outshot and outchanced by a margin of 2-1?

Overachieved, regardless. How many games outshot and outchanced by a margin of 2-1? Alot but don't you remember the games we lost because of a:bad coaching b:not showing up(2 games againt Florida come to mind) and c:not being able to hold on to leads I remember counting about 15 points blown. Alot of them against bad teams.
