That lost big time to the devils on friday night. It always seems to go in circles like this for the Montreal Canadiens. They lose a couple, everyone calls for a trade or MT's firing, something needs to happen. When they win a couple in a row, it seems everyone kinda backs down. The last 2 games are really the only times that they've played well in this year, without the goali having to steal the points for us. They looked alright last night only because their power play was working, our penalty killing looked bad, but I think that can be attributed somewhat to the fact that Pittsburgh has a great PP. I still think we need some changes. There are some players that just have to be moved. I would even move 2 of the three between Audette, Czerkawski and Petrov. Audette is proving that he can still score, does that make him any more valuable than he was last week? If you can move 2 of those three you can move Zednik back to the right wing, that is if we do get the big LW that we need. I think Ribeiro needs to play on an offensive line, so he either plays LW or C with Perreault and whoever is left of Audi, Czerk or Petrov. Unfortunately Gilmour just isn't doing anything, move him to the fourth line, until he starts producing. If the rumours are true about Brad Frerence, would Dykhuis and a lower tier prospect (Chouinard) bring him to Montreal. Here's our lineup. (Big LW) - Koivu - Zednik Perreault - Ribeiro - (Czerk, Audi, Petrov) Bulis - Juneau - Dackell Kilger - Gilmour - Mckay
Blouin, Lindsay
Brisebois - Frerence Rivet - Markov Quintal - Traverse
Hopefully by the new year our last D pairing will be Souray - Hainsey

I think it is one of the most bizarre season that the Habs are playing in awhile.
Theodore has been struggling, Therrien's head is in danger, our defence isn't playing good, the dressing room seems to be all about tension, we've been killed a few times by a large magrin.. and still, we are 2 games above ,500 and 6th in our conference.
Just imagine if we wouldn't have lost pts against Anaheim, Toronto and Pittsburgh.. it would have been even better.
I would love to see Therrien gone as soon as possible.. but for now, we must stick to the players we have, until Savard can get a good deal.
But still.. our record speaks for itself.. we aren't that bad.. but we should have been a lot better.

Join the club on that one the recent couple of wins are gonna be a blip on the radar screen of effort from the player's. They have no respect for MT anymore and are responding right now because of AS's trip to the room. For us to be a better club the first thing that should happen is a new coach IMO. After that then we'll know for sure who stay's and who goes as far as player's are concerned. Then again maybe audette finally will come around for real and we can move him with hackett someplace for that big forward we need. (it's fun to dream)

The Montreal defense for 2003- 2004 could look like this
Hainsey - Rivet Markov - Komo Brisebois - Frerence

Without trading anyone, and I like the second better

Komisarek plays the right and Hainsey the left. So Hainsey/Souray doesn't work. Neither does Briesbois with Komisarek...

I was looking more at pairing a strong offensive defenseman with a strong defensive one...you know kinda like this guy takes the man while the other guy plays the puck out of the zone, rather then the actual curve in their sticks. However you do make a point.
It seems lately a lot of people have been bashing the current defense (and forwards) and Savard for the players on the ice, when I think the entire team this year and last are a makeshift group of players that make the Habs competetive while building a strong farm for the future.

The Montreal defense for 2003- 2004 could look like this Hainsey - Rivet Markov - Komo Brisebois - Frerence or Markov - Rivet Hainsey - Souray Brisebois - Komo Without trading anyone, and I like the second better I think it will be: Hainsey-Brisebois Markov-Rivet Souray-Komo or maybe switch Markov with Hainsey or Souray plays with Briser and an all kid pair of Hainsey-Komi Still looks good...now get a teacher for them!
