It's obvious. He used to have a wonderful shot. Now he has trouble doing anything with the puck.
In the playoffs, he scored a couple of goals on great 2nd efforts and weak ones by Dafoe and Weekes. He didn't really have a ''great'' top corner goal as I recall...

Right now, I think MT should insert ME in Audi's place. Sure I can't skate all that well, and my defense sucks, and heck, I can't really shoot either -- but I can't do ANY worse than him right now. I can, however, backbite like mad in the dressing room and complain alot. And I'll take 1/10 of what he's making. Good asset managent, as some on this board would say.

His value right now is ZERO unless the Habs eat a huge chunk of that 3 mill contract. It's a shame really I hate to have to hate him but he's brutal right now.If he's hurt put him sit'em he's clearly not helping. HFTO

I didn't see the game with the Stars last night but have read that Audette played a strong third period after MT changed some lines. I think this guy deserves a second chance here. He has done his time in the pressbox and then been on the fourth line so put him on the second line for a few games and let him prove he can still play, but give him an honest chance. If after 4-5 games with quality ice time and players he cannot perform it may be time to cut your losses on a 3 million dollar player, but this is a guy AS tried to sign as a free agent, then traded for and played great in the playoffs.

Honestly I don't see why everyone is getting so pumped up with his ''performance'' in the 3rd. Anyone can look good when Saku and Zed decide to play like they did in the 3rd. Chow, McKay, Petrov, Audi, etc Audette showed me, as I said, NO wrist shot, he had trouble getting any shots on goal..

I basically saw what you did, Marc.
Donald looked focused, which is obviously better than the total lack of commitment and hustle he displayed in first five or so games. But there is not good touch on his passes and there is not much snap or velocity on wrist shot. It is too bad if the injury will have such a lasting impact on his game -- the club needs points and productivity.
As for the lines in the 3rd period, I bet Pat Burns is hoping MThead brings Hi Ho Silver back the whole weekend. A good even strength club like Devils can probably expose quite a few flaws in those lines. When is MT going to learn, you simply cannot have Audette, Czerkawski and Petrov filling three of the top six forward spots on a given night and truly give the club (poor Hack and Theo) its best chance to win.

Audette hasn't looked good yet, IMO. I dont understand it for the life of me. Last year when he came over, man he was a shooting gallery, and in the playoffs, he was the go to guy. Now he can't do anything right. Even simple plays he seems to struggle with. I hope he turns it around, but I think Gilmor is in the same boat. Also McKay hasn't played that well lately. As for the lines in the 3rd, I liked them. I can't stand Gilmor Perreault Petrov line. It makes me neverous everytime I see them on the ice. I think Gilmor has played better when he's with McKay, so I would give them some games. I also think Chow and his lazy ass should not be on the first line. Neither should Audette, but somebodies got to play there. But against NJ, well they are one of the top teams in the league, so it wont be easy no matter how good we play.

Let's remember his playoff goals
1st one: off the skate of Nick Boynton
2nd one: great pass by Markov and a nifty backhander into the net
3rd one: GREAT 2nd effort to make it 4-2 Habs. Just going after a loose puck
4th one: faceoff and a shot right after that fools Dafoe. Not a great shot, but a quick one though to make it 3-2 B's in game 3
5th one: I think this was the OT winner in game 3 against Carolina. Weekes should have stopped it, but again it was a shot off the draw.
I believe he had another one, but I don't remember it right now. But if you look at those goals, none of them were great shots that make you say ''wow...''

I never said I was pumped over Audette and as I did say I did not see the game personally so I was going on what I read, but as you point out very clearly...anyone can look good with Saku and Zed deciding to play like they did. So my point being, the Habs need him producing offence which he won't do on the fouth line or in the press box

I was talking more about the media(should have said it). You should hear the french media here...Audette is like a god and he HAS to be on the first line or else they always bash the Habs for not having him on that line..
