One trivial, the other not. The not trivial is Koivu's charitable foundation, which aims to raise 2.5 million bucks to get a PET scan for Montreal General (the nearest one is in Sherbrooke right now). A further 5.5 million will be kicked in by the province, which tells us that at 8 million bucks these things must be as valuable as a power forward. Here is a link to the story at Faceoff.com:

I for one will be giving. Here's the link to the foundation:

The trivial story is this: For those who live in or visit Montreal, I came across a kind of liquidation sale in what used to be a furniture store at the corner of Van Horne and Cote des Neiges. They've got thousands of hockey jerseys (with logos, numbers, etc) jackets, sweatshirts, many of them CCM or Koho (the real deal) at hugely reduced prices. It's pretty weird, because when you walk in you go past a few rows of household items like glasses, plates, dishes, etc, and then you're faced with two stories chalk full of all this hockey stuff (all merchandise, no equipment). Anyway, for those who see these kinds of things as good x-mas gifts or want this kind of stuff, there's tons of it. The sale's on until January (and no I don't have an interest in the business). The place is on the southwest corner of Cote des Neiges and Van Horne, about a 5 minute walk north (down the hill) from the Cote des Neiges metro station. Knock yourselves out.
They had ECHL stuff that was pretty cool, and I almost bought the CCM Boston University practice jersey.....may go back.
