Capitals send Zednik to Islanders
Canadian Press The Globe and Mail
UNIONDALE, N.Y. — The New York Islanders have acquired winger Richard Zednik from the Washington Capitals in exchange for a second-round draft pick in 2007.
Zednik will be an unrestricted free agent July 1 and was unable to come to terms on an extension with the Capitals.
The 31-year-old Slovak had 18 points (6-12) in 32 games with the Caps, missing half the season through injury.

Anyone know if BUlis is available? Maybe the Habs can reacquire Kilger before tonight's game—he's one goal ahead of Samsonov in the scoring derby.

To a certain extent, these days you should be able to pay more for a player at the trade deadline than in the summer, because you get him for the playoffs and don't have to pay as much of a price in cap room. And a guy we dealt for a 3d rounder is now traded for a 2nd rounder... Am I good, or what ? EDIT: Anyone who doesn't realise I'm kidding just has to look at my sig and think, if he really thinks he's any good, why doesn't he change it

And we were happy with the 3rd.

It shows how inflated the market has become. I want us to re-sign Souray, but trading him would get us at least a 1st rounder in 08 plus a decent player today. Crazy, huh?
