We should have a number dispenser like they have at the grocery store... Zubrus could have been a good second line center. But he wants 5 million in the off season so that makes him nothing more then a pure rental. Regardless, still a good pick up.

(thought I'd put this in the Zubrus thread).

FYI -Zubrus is still going out with his girlfriend from his Montreal days and would consider moving back here - she'd be thrilled. He lives in the area every summer. -Habs called Washington to inquire about his status before he got traded. www.cyberpresse.ca/article/20070301/CPSPORTS01/70301212/1002/CPSPORTS---- Personnaly, I'd look into him this summer, he's looking for a long-term deal, wants to settle down somewhere with his kids..... He wants a 5 year deal, for a 28 year old, that can make sense if he's not going to be too greedy.

I like the combination of size & skill but I wonder about his contract demands. I heard he was asking for 5 million which is way too much. However that could have been the announcers mistake. The Habs actually called Washington eh? Was that in George McPhee's blog?

Still, he could be a very interesting #2 center, assuming Plekanec gets the #3 slot and Bonk is gone. If he's willing to take reasonable money over 5 years, I'd do it. BC, the check is in the mail, right ?

If some fool pays Zubrus a 5 yr - 25 million contract based on his stats with Ovechkin, they should be checked into the local mental ward.
2005-2006 Capitals 71 23- 34- 57 2006-2007 Capitals 60 20-32- 52
That is like Bob giving Ryder 5 million .... I dont think so !!

BC, the check is in the mail, right ? Uh, yeah. It's in the mail. Should be there any day now. I like Zubrus (really?), but if he's asking for $5 million over 5 years... Yeesh. I'd offer him a $3 million for 5 years, and then watch the Hab nation go nuts in fury. Just for grins and giggles.

Why would we go off like a bad firecracker? $3MM/yr for 5 years for a 28 year old guy with his decent skills and size seem ok to me.

'cause IMO, that's what Bulis is: Radek Bonk. Big, strong, solid, good 2-way guy but too often a non-factor. Look at non-Oveshkin season of Bulis and tell me you'd pay 3mil/yr for that? Without laughing.

I mean Bulis reminds me of Bonk a lot and so I'm not sure I'd give this kind of player 3mil.

Obviously Buffalo must consider themselves much weaker than the Hab's and felt they needed help more than Gainey feels we do?

Spector's is reporting a source that claims Zubrus is looking for a 5 year, $16 million deal. That's just over $3 mill per season. Too many years imo.
