As a franco-ontarian, it's kind of nice to see that another franco-ontarian is now the coach of the Montreal Canadiens. Claude Julien was born in Blind River Ontario. He was a Hab fan growing up. After a junior hockey career in Ontario, he played 13 games with the Quebec Nordiques over two seasons (one in 84-85 and 13 in 85-86). He was coached by André Savard afterwards with the Fredericton Express (Quebec's farm team). By the way André Savard is from Temiscamingue, Québec, a border community with very strong ties with Ontario. Another former Hab from there is Gaston Gingras who played his junior hockey in Ontario.
By the way, another Ontario born coach who was part French I think was the great Hector "Toe" Blake. Anybody can confirm if he pas part French? I know he speaked French fluidly.
Other franco-ontarian coaches in the NHL include Bob Hartley and Jacques Martin. Two pretty good coaches. Let's hope Julien keeps up the tradition!

Burns is from Montreal, I'm prettty sure, as is Scotty Bowman, I think.
Another great Franco-Ontario coach was Al Arbour from Sudbury. I just heard a few days ago somebody mentionned that Arbour really admired Toe Blake. Blake was also from Northern Ontario (Victoria Mines).
