Cause for optimism!
The Caps have had better players all year and we are two points up with two weeks to go. It's Theo against the bunch. It reminds me of pickup games on outdoor ice. A hot goaltender can carry an inferior team. Theo is definitely hot and our team is definitely inferion. Audette can't hurt.

Centers for Montreal:


Gilmour, Perreault, Juneau and Van Allen

I'll take our natural centers anyday.


Washington defence:


Gonchar, Witt, Klee, Fortin, Cote, Kucera

Montreal defence:


Brisebois, Dykhuis, Rivet, Markov, Bouillon, Quintal

I'll take our defence over theirs(by a slight margin)....Gonchar is an offensive stud, but isn't the strongest defensively,Witt is a monster physically but isn't the most mobile...the rest are either 5's or 6's or minor league guys.

In close games, little things like winning faceoffs are key.I think we really win out over them in that category...


IMO, Habs will make the playoffs because of the much better center core.
