Stéphane QUintal appeared on TV yesterday and spoke about his departure from Montreal. I didn't know that the last conversation he had with Gainey had been over the phone. Being let off like that is not a very classy move by the Habs GM. Quintal, on the other hand, has proven to have a genuine interest to stay in Montreal, to keep his involvements in the community and help the young players to improve. The more I see the guy, the more I would have wanted him to stay on the team, with an A on the chest.

Q was one of the Habs best d-men for the first half of last season. Always stood up for his teammates.

I would have been glad to see him as the 7th man this season, but understandably he felt he had more to give. If the parting did occur as he described, it indeed was businesslike in a low-class kind of way.
