Ask MT any question, he will always start responding by "pour nous ce qui est important..." (for us the important thing is...).
Reporter: How big is tonight' game Michel ?
MT: Pour nous ce qui est important...
Reporter: How was your poutine Michel ?
MT: Pour nous ce qui est important...
Well, let me be a coach for a few minutes Michel and I will tell what is important...

Hereforth and forever, I will no longer call him Therrien, coach'potato, The Simple Man or any other endearing names. He shall be known to me, and be seen by me, as The Simpleton. Said name is to be used with a slight sneer and a twitch of the left eye. Feel free to adopt it.

Ah crap, sorry about that, hit the enter button by mistake... So here what's important Michel PUCK POSSESSION "INSERT YOUR FAVORITE SWEARING" Our "system" right now is based on the opposite, we don't want the puck... why ? Because somehow the players are now convinced they will make mistakes if they have the puck. It's logical after all, if you don't have the puck, you can't give it away This 1-2-2 system is not working. Let's do some aggressive forechecking. In November, both Bulis and Dackell were forechecking hard while Juneau stayed behind. Now only one player is trying to create turnovers. Players look lost out there and they're not skating, the MT system goes against the most simple objective in hockey (except scoring goals) gain possession of the puck and keep it, that's the best defense, and keep moving your feet. This anti-hockey is why the players are showing no intensity out there, how can you gain momemtum with a system like that Well, I guess I'm still venting my frustration. Who else think that's part of the problem ?

I've been wondering what The Sports Metwork (TSM) had to do with any of our discussions and then it suddenly hit me, like a bolt from the blue, like a pie in the face, like a Dackell on a line-up card...you guys are talking about MT, The Simple Man. But like a Benedictine monk, I have vowed to refrain from taking HIS name in vain until Monday. So I desist. Which reminds me of this monk story. A new monk just finishes his apprenticeship and is assigned to the library, specifically the scroll copying room. He watches as one monk assiduously copies a scroll, and notices that the monk is copying from another copy, not the original. He questions the abbott who has shown him around, "Hey Abbott (sorry, couldn't resist), this looks very good, but tell me, how can we be sure that it's correct? After all if a monk makes a mistake in the copying, then the mistake will be copied through the ages". "Good point, my son", replies the abbott, who decides to go down to the cellars where the originals are kept. The day passes, but the abbott doesn't return. As dinner time approaches, some of the monks get concerned and decide to check up on him. The abbott is nowhere to be found in upper levels so they descend, further into the older rooms. At last they see the Abbott, in a corner where the oldest scrolls are kept. The Abbott is bent over, and appears to be sobbing and weeping inconsolably. The monks approach, "Father, what's wrong!?" The abbott slowly raises his head, eyes red and rasps out, "The word was celebrate".

The problems with MT's anti-hockey system are nicely stated, Yeti.
And, overall, the quotes you provide capture quite accurately Therrien's leitmotif.
Is interesting, the media is hitting now after seeing him as a Forest Gump type in a nice story.
I love to know what Savard or Carbo honestly think of Therrien capacity to coach on this level.

Who else think that's part of the problem ? Someone said on CKAC(I think it was Bergeron) yesterday afternoon or last night that the system we have had all year(the 1-2-2) has ruined the confidence of the whole team...guys don't want the puck(aside from Petrov and Zednik it seems), everyone is only concentrating on defence and if they make a mistake(on the attack), they know they could be benched...it's really frustrating... and I see why the team plays with so little emotion and intensity, we have all played this wonderful game..when you finally get the puck, is it fun to be FORCED to dump it in? is it fun to always be running around in your own end because your team asks you to give the puck to the other team by dumping it in? is it fun always getting passes in your skates and in your back because your d-man(aside from Markov and Brisebois) have little offensive talent and all they can do is clear it out by the glass?
