This isn't a question as to who you'd like to see us beat, but more who do we matchup best against? Explain your matchup with your reasons.
Should be interesting.
To start it off, i'm going with ottawa, due to their goaltending and brutal playoff record. Everyone is due though right? No i'm sticking with Ottawa.

Carolina...Theo's is in their head..they can't beat him ;D
Ottawa would LOVE facing us because we don't play playoff hockey like the Leafs do...

Toronto all the way. We will pick it up and build on tonight's finish and win the next three. Koivu and Audette will be back, Komisaurus will be playing as 5th or 6th D and best of all ... Joseph will be in net, a bit rusty and shaky, and we have Theo. This is our chance to beat Toronto in a head to head series and shut those beyond bothersome "we've got black & white photos of our last win" Leafs fans up once and for all. Maybe we'd get a bit more television coverage out of it for next year as well after we whup them.
We can do it! We will be the serious underdogs and there will be sooooooo much PRESSURE on the Weafs and ... well, we all know how well they tend to perform under PRESSURE in the post season. Besides, an early exit would allow Cujo's hand to heal properly before he dives into the UFA waters. Bring them on.

I wonder if CUJO would comeback in the 1st round and play, rusty et all....

He has to.
I think he will and he'll tell Quinn he's ready. He's a proud guy and a competitor. Also, in his mind (likely), it will be extremely important to show he is a fast healer who is back in top form because otherwise he is screwed; Quinn won't make him a decent offer and if he doesn't get in in the first round and the Laughs don't get through then I believe his $$$ negotiating power drops considerably. Wow, what a long sentence!
Think about it; who will be willing to pay top $$$ on a mid to long term deal for a net minder that no one knows for sure if and how well they've healed and is he capable of being as good as or better than this below average season for Cujo?
This is likely to be his last shot at a big contract and I think it will come into his thinking for sure.

The REAL question is...do the Leafs risk losing in their 1st round with a goalie who is coming back from a broken hand when they have a proven backstop in Barrasso who has won 2 cups ready to take over...

It'll be Cujo (with the media on his side) vs. Quinn.
By the way, why did they go out and spend $$$ on Barrasso when Dryden is already on the payroll?? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Carolina - by far the weakest team we could face. It's also bloody unlikely we'll get to face them, but hey, who knows ! I'm just hoping they get themselves a 6 or 7 game series and a couple of wins in there, enough the show the world how good Theo can be in the playoffs, and how the Habs aren't a walkover anymore. I'm just sick of seeing the Habs written off every year in October A solid series, and suddenly they'll get a bit more respect. But Savard might not want to make the playoffs, in a way - it would put a lot more pressure on him to keep on making them !!

I voted for Toronto. Those games, at least part of them, should be on ESPN or ESPN 2. I want to see our two teams fighting it out. It would be my very first time to see our teams fighting it out in the Playoffs.

toronto for me.
the level of excitement across the land would be incredible. hockey boards will have to recruit extra mods to cope with the volume of trash-talking.
beating them would be so sweet. i can hear the silence now.

Anyways, for a Leafs-Habs series to happen, we need one of the teams to get hot...

I voted for Carolina. But like PTH said, fat chance we get to meet them. Boston is first overall.
What we need is for Jersey to upset Philly in the first round and we draw Boston for the second round.

Realisticly I voted for Ottawa. I think we have a far better chance to beating them than Philly or Toronto in the first round. In the second round I would love to face Boston and then Toronto in the conference finals after that we could bring on the Avs and then Theo can make us forget about Saint Patrick once and for all!!!!!!!! GO HABS GO

Yeah, ESPN/ESPN 2 usually give us 2 of the Leafs Games in Round 1, and if they reach Round 2, then we should get the whole series. I must get a dish before next season so I can get NHL Centre Ice!!

Cool..what about other series...last year did they have Edmonton-Dallas games? Yes, I got the Edmonton/Dallas Series too. Every Playoff season the Oilers play the Stars, I root for the Oilers to beat the Stars. I felt like crying when the Stars beat the Oilers again last year in the Playoffs. I like the Oilers and enjoy watching them. The Oilers fans and the Sharks fans share their dislike of both the Stars and Belfour. I was hoping the Oilers and Stars could battle it out again this year, with the Oilers winning this time, but it doesn't look good for either of them in the Playoffs this year. That's too bad. The only 2 Canadian teams I would like to see miss the Playoffs are the Flames and Sens.

I've cast my vote for Boston, although I'd prefer Carolina, I do not see us advancing that far up the playoff berth ladder. I heard during the Star's game today that the Bruins have played 35 games this year which they won or lost by only 1 goal. Hopefully, that would translate into close games that we would have a decent chance to win. IMO, Theo could steal a close series against the Bruins, then again, Theo could steal a series from just about anyone with a little help from the rest of the team.
