LOL! This is my favourite part:
"Tamer's slap shot from the red line struck Richter in the right side of his mask and opened a cut on his right ear. Richter already had been struck in the mask by a shot from J.P. Vigier earlier in the period and also was run into by teammate Martin Rucinsky - believed to be the first contact initiated by Rucinsky in his two weeks as a Ranger - during the pregame warm-ups."

During the off season the Rangers need a coaching change. Sather stays too much with his old cronies.
This is also the end for Messier, Richter, Rucinsky in New York. I wonder how many free agents they will sign this summer?

I hope they keep signing UFA's because it won't help them one bit...they don't understand you need to have a HOMEGROWN core and then you add the UFA's to help your homegrown core. They just sign UFA's and trade for stars to be the core...it's all mixed up. Look at Colorado: Sakic, Foote, Hejduk, Drury, Tanguay, Skoula, Vrbata all homegrown. They got Forsberg for Lindros who was a draft pick, Roy for you know who( ), Blake was picked up for Deadmarsh and Aulin who were drafted by them. But the key is, for years, it's been about Sakic, Forsberg, Foote and Roy down there.Look at the Rangers...their core has been among others Lindros, Bure, Nedved, Hlavac, Messier, Graves, Dvorak, Kovalev, Robitaille, Zubov, Leetch, Malakhov, Richter...most of them came from other organizations(I think Leetch, Richter and Zubov were the only homegrown players) and most of them barely lasted 2-3 years there and their core never stayed together. It's just a moronic way to build a team. I hope AS is taking notes...Theodore, Hainsey, Komisarek, Koivu, Hossa, Markov, Perezhogin could be a potentially outstanding homegrown core.Add a few trade pickups like Zed, Bulis and whoever he may go after, along with some UFA's and we could be well on our way

When you look at how a team will do when the going gets tough, you check out the character players on the team. The Rangers have plenty of them. Lindros, Fleury, Bure, Poti, Rucinsky, Nedved and maybe even a few more I can't recall right now. No one can doubt each and every one of them is a special character. At least they all think so.
Do we need to worry about the Rangers? Nah. The Sabres, yes.

I think it's time we worry about the Caps, too!

ROTFLMAO!! I loved these articles. ;D
This Rangers game last night sounds as bad as the Sharks game was today. Same kind of effort as the Sharks with no results.
I don't like the fact that Richter was hurt. I really don't like to see any player hurt.
The Sabres lost to the Leafs tonight, so that helps the Habs too.

But the Sharks lost to a team on fire, the LA Kings, the Rangers lost to a minor league goalie and a depleted minor league team with about 5 NHL players(Heatley, Hrkac, Bartecko, Tremblay, Stefan) on it!

Lundmark, Fata Tyutin, Heisten, etc.....It's much better than ours. They would win if they spend their money wisely. The final four usually have the highest payrolls. The Rangers need to consider more character when handing out the big bucks. This summer I think CuJo will be join NY. Along with one of the big four and maybe Niuewendyk. Along with Chelios also. I wouldn't be surprised to see them blow Chelios' socks off with an offer. With so much over expansion the league is watered down so much players like Chelios could play well into their 40s ie. Carbonneau, Bourque or Larinov. I see Richter, Fluery, Messier and Rucinsky leaving. It's going to be an interesting summer in New York
