This is it guys. All les gars have to do is look at what happened to the "money-is-enough-to-win-us-hockey-games-Rangers" and they should get the message.
We can't take any team lightly from this point on. We have to establish the pattern right off the bat and establish who's in control immediately. If that means Linsay dropping the gloves to stick up for a teammate, then do it Bill. Ditto Rivet and Quintal.
Nothing can be taken for granted tonight. Don't give a sucker a second chance. Take it to him from the start and pour it on. Cheers.

Well Dis, I agree with you. I would go further. First, in the offensive zone we should 1. Lay down a barrage from the 155's to soften them up. 2. Bring in the main tank formation down the center while we have Petrov and Berezin atttacking the flanks. Classic pincer movement. Second, defensive zone. 1. Lay down a minefield through center ice. Claymores on the boards..... 2. Set up an obstacal course to channel the enemy attack. I'm thinking Quantal in his most useful role as a pylon. Set up bunker positions with crossover fields of fire. Thinking Markov and Briseboise here, since neither can shoot straight. 3. Finally, set up a Maginot redux Line in front of Theo. Just in case (most likely) that any enemy gets through our vaunted defense.... Lastly, We should have absolutely no problems winning with the brilliant leadership of Sun Tzu Savard and Micheal "call me Clausewitz" Therrien...... Cheers.......... ......... ;D

Yo Claus!!!
I think we'd be much better off with your fire and movement approach to business, rather than the traditional surround the fortress, lay seige and starve them out process. We simply don't have enough time for that.
Sir Aurthur Currie would have been proud of you nonetheless.
Cheers.

"Thorough preparation must lead to success. Neglect nothing." Now, doesn't that sound like Therrien? And will tonight be The Simple Man's Vimy Ridge ........

Amateurs talk of tactics. Professionals talk of logistics. Do you by chance know who said that?? Cheers.

this board must either have the most intellectual sports fans ever, or just a huge bunch of geeks! ;D

this board must either have the most intellectual sports fans ever, or just a huge bunch of geeks! ;D Ahem ... well versed geeks me thinks 8) So how does this relate to hockey? Well, you have to pretty prepared to go into battle (the game) prior to engaging. If the planning and reconnaissance (ie reviewing the opponent's last battle, ahem, game) haven't been properly completed and the troops, ahem, players, properly briefed and prepared, it won't matter how many leaders you have on the ice, you're not going to win ... unless you have a goaltender who can stop 50-odd shots a game. Note to Therrien AND Savard, see above or get out of town. BTW, someone told me that it was Napoleon Bonnaparte who said the above quote, but I have a hard time believing that. I seem to remember it from a manual at work. As with Currie, Napoleon did, however, confirm his orders in a very simple way. He would tell his batman, or the unlucky soldier who was assigned to do his boots, etc, the exact details of his battle plan. On the premise, if this lowly private can understand my strategy, how could my generals not? And that's how we are going to make this year, HA and Marc. Simple hustle and teamwork. Therrien has to keep it simple. We just don't have the horses to play otherwise. Cheers guys

Amateurs talk of tactics. Professionals talk of logistics. Do you by chance know who said that?? Cheers. Ah, my good man, have you been listening in to my wife’s delightful mutterings before she goes on her infamous shopping sprees?.... I have come across this old military axiom or another variation, "Amateurs study tactics. Professionals study logistics." However, I don't remember to whom it is first contributed to. I thought it might be a Roman general, opening a package of condoms in an Egyptian brothel, or, Alexander the Great heating up a TV dinner on the borders of India. Or then again, it could be that French hot dog, Napoleon, mired in Russia. If it is Napoleon, my favorite saying from him is: 'I tell you Wellington is a bad general, the English are bad soldiers; we will settle the matter by lunchtime.' — Napoleon, before Waterloo. BTW, Dis, it's is socially unacceptable to put the words, "Therrien", "tactics" and "logistics" in the same sentence. Come to think of it, they words should not even be in the same page.

Don't forget planning and preparation. A concept that seems to be foreign to Therrien as well. Cheers.

We should start Fiset in one of these games. He's needs a few games to fine tune for the playoffs, and we all would like a look see.

It's hard to know exactly when Therrien should throw him to wolves as every game is crucial from here-on-out. I have to agree with Marc in that the ideal time would be if we were certain of a playoff spot. To have Fiset thrown in totally cold either now or in the playoffs wouldn't be fair to him or his teammates. Cheers.

A guy can always broaden his knowledge of all sorts of things on this board. The only Napoleon quote I can remember is " It's damn cold here and some idiot lost one of my gloves!"
<<------(chicken pot pie, hmm, delicious.. ;D HA)
or "Wellington?, what's his beef?" Ouch, that one was really low.

Human nature says average teams will not go for the knockout punch until their back are against the wall. It's like the average stundent pulling an all-nighter before a big test. Instead of studying well in advance of the test. Here is what average teams do down the stretch. Win a big game lose the next. Come out fired up after a loss win a big one lose the next. No excuse for not getting at least a point against Nashville in a game you had to have.
