I like what Darcy brings most of the time, but this kind of stuff is unacceptable. The way I saw it, it was skates off the ice and the elbow/forearm smash to the head. Three games.

Really cheap shot. I am certain that he intended to injure. Came in full speed, jumped and aimed an elbow right at his head.
Three not enough. Ten would deliver the message. Gary Bettmans NHL is corrupt. They NEVER asses suspensions on a deserving basis. Bush league.

I agree HA. With the amount of careers that are ended, and jeopardized with concussions, of late, the NHL are foolish to not start liberally handing out 10-20 game suspensions to get the message accross. The NHL has to protect its players in that regard. It's not going to be a very marketable league to fans, or players, if careers keep getting cut short from cheap shots. Looking at Paul Karyia, while he's still one of the most skilled players in the league, he's never looked the same since that crosscheck to the face that ended his '98 season.

I only saw it once and thought it was clean. Gonchar had his head so far down i swear he was trying to lick the ice. I'm not sure if tucker's feet left the ice, and it looked like his forearm/elbow connected but that it wasn't sticking out, thats just how low gonchar's head was.
Its easy to watch it in slow mo instant replay, but i only saw it once and full speed and all i thought was "keep your f#$$ing head up buddy!
I was pissed off we traded that guy away, and whether or not he gets a suspension, our team lacks that type of player. Asham looked like he had potential, but now plays like a woos, hopefully Lindsay can fill that role of pest. We need a guy that can draw penalties from the other team by being an annoying prick.

Asham looked like he had potential, but now plays like a woos, hopefully Lindsay can fill that role of pest. He does not play like a "wuss". He still plays physically but he's got his priorities straight: throw the hit when the opportunity presents itself but don't run around looking to dish if you can get the puck and make a play. The guy has 5 goals in the equivalent of about 7 full games. He averages about 6 minutes a game on the fourth line. He can chuck them if need be with all but the truest heavyweights, doesn't take stupid penalties very often at all, skates better than almost all enforcers, has decent hands, hustles and is a model citizen. To me he looks like a keeper. I don't why you would rag on the guy for not trying to put someone out of commission once a game. Had one of the two refs seen Tucker's hit it might have cost him a double minor or worse. He did leave his feet (as is his habit) and he puts his team in bad spots far too often with cheapshots. I agree that he's an asset, on balance, and I didn't like the trade either, but Asham can be (and usually is) a very useful player on this team without emulating Darcy Tucker, and especially the hot-headed overzealous crap that leads to long powerplays and suspensions....

The goal Asham scored against Florida was a goal scorers goal. Lots of patience, draw the puck out from the tangle of skates, see the opening, put it in. Can you imagine Gino in the same position? Hack, hack, hack. I can't help thinking this kids' got a lot more to him than toughness. A lot like Mike Keane...not as responsible defensively and maybe not quite as quick a skater, but good hands, a bit heavier than Mike and good character too. You'd need it, receiving the treatment he has this year given how he's performed when he's had decent ice time. And..., as JV points out, muchos goals for limited ice time. A keeper, I think.
