From playing with mediocre players to centering Jagr...Zubie just scored to make it 4-3 Washington with about 3 minutes to go...2 goals and 2 assists for Jagr tonight.
I wonder if it would have been possible to deal Zednik and that 2nd rounder for Linden and that 1st?...

AH crap...Washington wins 4-3.
BUT...Boston won 2-1 against Buffalo! I guess you can't get ALL the breaks...

The switch of first and second round picks was probably what was needed to induce Savard to do it. But I hear what you're saying: Zednik/Koivu/Selanne Petrov/Gilmour/Zubrus Hossa/Perreault/Asham Kilger/Juneau/Dackell Lindsay (or Milroy) and Balej. God would that have looked good. Audette and Berezin get to use their frequent flyer points....Darby, Poulin and Ward get moved. The farm keeps humming. The sound of fertility.

In my mind we're fighting with the Sabres for 8th. So though all the other competitors won tonight, I'm very relieved that Buffalo lost.

The Capitals coveted Zubrus ever since the infamous Bondra deal, so I would imagine it was them pushing heavy to get him included. Personally, if it had of been me, I would have let the Caps keep the 1st rounder, and offered them our high 2nd (as opposed to the low 2nd we gave them) if it had of meant keeping Zubby. Linden and a 2nd (Milroy) for Zednik and Bulis? We keep Zubrus? A youth movement of Zubrus, Zednik and Bulis, all on the same team? In a heartbeat.

What I saw in the highlites was Jagr, Jagr and Jagr. Oh yeah, Zubby was somewhere in there too.
I did not see anything special when he was here. Sure flashes, here and there, but, we could imagine him to be much better.
On many nights, I see Zed capable of stepping up to the next level. Right now, he tries to do it all by himself. I suspect that Zed Koivu will be a very interesting combo.
In my opinion.

I would have done that deal as well.McPhee has always liked Zubrus though.I think the Zubrus for Zed swap may have been discussed many times last year and on D day they added the other assests and players.
