Hey All Ok < I know it s still a little soon, but does anyone have a preference as to who les habitants meet in the first round, should they get there? Or willeveryone be happy with them just getting there and not care who they play. right now Im kinda looking forward to an oldtime Boston Montreal Matchup. Then ahgain, a Toronto Montreal meeting would be interesting , considering I ve never seen it in my life time., LOL . Im only 28. Closest was 93. Who do you all think they would best match up with ? Thoughts? Cheers . Habits

Just happy to be there is my feeling.
But if I must chose, Leafs/HABS would probably create the most emotional playoff round since the Nordiques days. It would awake a tremendous rivalry.

My first choice would be Carolina but I don't think it's likely to happen. Of the more realistic choices I'd take Boston, mostly because we've stayed pretty well with them this season. Also, The Bruins have gained a fair amount of points this year through overtime wins and overtime losses. The Habs have played most of their overtimes as ties. This skews the season in Boston's advantage but I'm not sure it will help in the post-season.I think if we meet in the playoffs and the games happen to go to O.T. this may give the advantage to the Habs because Boston's O.T. strategy is more based on the 4 on 4 play/ overtime loss point and so Boston would have to alter their game plan more than Montreal would. Or maybe I'm delusional? What do the rest of you think?

Imagine if the Habs upset the Leafs in this stage of our rebuilding that would be almost as good as a cup,it certainly would make up for the bashing we have taken over the last four years. That would be sweet,I'll try and wake myself up now. dreaming in TO HFTO

Like Doc said, just getting there would be sweet.
I would love facing Boston or Toronto.Especially Toronto...or how about an Ottawa-Montreal series? oh man, probably the lowest number of bodychecks in playoff history for one series will be recorded in that series LOL...but it would get the rivarly going.

Toronto, without a doubt. It's a win-win situation. Just getting there would be cause for celebration. Beating them would be like kicking the snot out of that rich, arrogant, pompous, piece of Saperlipopette bully that's been taunting you for the past few years...and then stealing his girlfirend!! ;D ;D Oh yeah, baby....oh yeah...now who's your daddy!!? Saaaaweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! Can papa get an amen!! CO

I would take Carolina, Boston or Ottawa. The Sens always choke in the first round.
I don't want nothing to do with Philly or Toronto in the first round. Philly is a stacked team and Toronto always plays better in the playoffs

I don't want the habs to play the leafs for two reasons. We aren't as good as they are playoff-wise. They have more experience as a team, and much more to prove. The other reason is, if we lose we'll have to hear it from leafs fans, my roommate is one of them for 365 days.
On the other hand if we beat them, then we'll give it right back.
As far as matchups goes, who doesn't want ottawa or carolina, ripe for the picking in the first round with questionable goaltending and playoff success.
I'm not happy just to be there, i think we should win the first round series, or at least get to game 6. Getting there and then getting swept or losing in 5 games isn't a successful playoff.

If given the power to decide the habs first round playoff victim I would cloose this order:
1) Carolina -- They suck coompared to any of the other teams that are going to make the playoffs. Their goaltending is mediocre, and there is nothing overly strong about this Carolina team, they're there by default the best team in a crap division.
2) Boston-- They're a good team, excellent goal scoring, we have excellent goaltending. Also the habs play the bruins well, I know we beat them handily at least once this season. And no matter how good a team the bruins have, we still own them all time, especially in the playoffs. I think the habs ghosts help them, lmao
3) toronto -- I know alot of you probably pick the leafs second favorite, but the leafs with weak defense and all, since they got corson and tucker, they paste us regularily.
4 Ottawa -- a weak team in the playoffs, but again, from the first time they played us to present, they play the habs very tough and tend to win majority of the time.
5) Philly -- the habs are part responsible for making that team good, LeClair, Recchi, Eric D. to name a few off hand. They seem to beat the habs like clockwork.
Not exactly the most scientific method of choosing who to meet in the playoffs, just thought I'd add my 2 cents
8)

So what if Leafs fans bash us...at least we have a team that will win the cup in a few years instead of a team that will be stuck in the 2nd round or won't make the playoffs...
