On the Team 990:
"Andre Savard really wanted Darius Kasperitus, and he was very upset he couldn't get him. Savard is not a happy man right now."
I guess we know who target #1 will be in the off-season, eh? Unfortunately, I suspect there will be a huge bidding war...

this is really to bad. I think he would haave been and would be a great pick up. I would love to see Hainsey, Markov and especially Komi use him as role model. Heart desire and willing to sacrifice himself for the team. Good God, Komisaurus as a uber-sized Kasperitus? Drool.............................. ;D

You know what, I am kinda of happy he didn't trade for Kaspar...I would have bet 10 $ Markov was used as a bait...I don't want to trade him for rental player. So yes, sign Kaspar during the off-season

He when kind of cheap when compared to Poti or Oates.

Someone at RDS reported it was for 2 'young' NHLers. I could see Ribeiro being one of the two. As much as I'd love to have Kasperitis, however, he's not the 1 'missing ingredient' standing in the way of the Habs and the cup. I can't see the logic in the Habs giving up a couple of prospects for a rent a player. The only argument I can rationalize is to pick him up in hopes of maximizing the team's potential for home playoff dates, which translates to cash that could be spent on players.

Yup, unless AS was ready to negotiate with Kaspar's agent before making the deal? I agree, I am sure Ribeiro was offered.Craig Patrick wanted Pavel Datsyuk AND a first round pick from the Wings.Wow.Even though the 1st rounder would be in 2003(Wings gave away the 2002 one for Hasek) it's still a 1st rounder and Datsyuk is Ribeiro with speed, better hands and more muscle.

Am I seeing a pattern with Savard? There always seems to be an explanation that Savard was close to signing..............Hull, Kasparitus, Turgeon, Yashin, Palffy......... If I told my wife that I was close to buying her a diamond bracelet that many times it wouldn't take her this long to catch on. What is the problem??? Money, taxes, team, language laws, endorsements, chemistry, press, alloftheabove?

Money, taxes, team, language laws, endorsements, chemistry, press, alloftheabove? It's called inheriting a terrible team with no young talent...it's tough dealing 2 youngsters when you have barely 5 who have NHL potential in your whole organization...not even on your team!
