He was among the greatest players of the 1970s and arguably the most exciting player of his generation. The popularity of the Canadiens' Guy Lafleur transcended sports. He was, and remains, a hero in this province and beyond, a reminder of a better time in hockey and its most successful franchise. The Hall of Famer is celebrated this season in the book Remembering Guy Lafleur, a collection of essays by the project's editor, Craig MacInnis, The Gazette's Dave Stubbs and Mark Lepage, and hockey writers Frank Orr and Doug Herod.
