All right guys... the guys fast, but do we really need this guy? And more importantly, who do we return to the minors or (worse) put on waivers???
Just some questions... our deadline day deals....

I like it...This guy is 1 tough man. We can use the size and toughness...we're 2 small and we need someone to bounch people around since Gino seems to not wanna do it anymore. Toughness is always something good to add to an already much too small team.

I love Bill Lindsay, always have.
I guess you can never have to much depth. I hope Asham isn't knocked back a step though.
Who knows, there could be a 2 for 1 deal coming yet today.

I admit, I don't know a lot about teams other than the Habs - I'm a university student and really don't have time to follow other teams. I thought I recalled Linsey being a tough guy player, but all CTV sportsnet said about him was that he was a good, mobile skater.
I thought damn, they're going to send Hossa down.
But now that I've darted over to waymoresports to check out the line on him, I'm a much happier camper. A big tough guy who loves to forecheck. Mmm... I'm drooling already. Now if we get Little George for Ribs we could dramatically alter the face of this team.
Lets hope it's Gino that takes the fall for Lindsay and not Ashram. My one request...

Ashram is a place people go to breathe deeply and seek out oneness with others, as opposed to the usual regimen of Haagen Daz and TV. Asham is our feisty forward who has probably never heard of an Ashram, much less visited one.
But seriously, if Lindsay can skate and hit and push Ojick off the chart, then I'm all for it. Asham shouldn't be affected by it, but he's only playing 6 minutes every third game anyway. Put Kilger out there between Lindsay and Asham. Or better still, use Lindsay on the second line:
Zednik/Gilmour/Petrov Lindsay/Perreault/Berezin Bulis/Juneau/Dackell Hossa/Kilger/Asham
Perreault and Berezin really need someone banging the front of the net.
Good move by Savard. Again, no cost to the future greater glory of the CH....

All right guys... the guys fast, but do we really need this guy? And more importantly, who do we return to the minors or (worse) put on waivers??? Just some questions... our deadline day deals.... If I am not mistaken, I don't think we have to do either. Only in the waiver draft do you have to then expose someone already on your roster - during the season you just have to stay within the 23-man roster limits. Unless I can't count, we are still under it: Petrov - Gilmour - Zednik Berezin - Perrault - Hossa Bulis - Juneau - Dackell Van Allen - Kilger - Asham Thats 12. Dykhuis - Brisebois Rivet - Markov Traverse - Quintal Thats 6. Theodore - Garon. That's 2. 12+6+2= 20. Add Lindsey, Robidas and Bouillon, and we are up to 23. Odjick goes on the injury reserve list, or Hossa gets sent back to the Cits, without having to clear waivers. I like the Lindsey acquisition by the way. He is actually one of the guys I thought we should look at getting, believe it or not. He is very tough, a great team guy, and a hit monster. 187 or something like that, averaging less than 10 minutes per game. Good presence in the dressing room, and a veteran player. Either on the 2nd line with Perrault and Berezin, or on the 4th line, with Kilger and Van Allen. Heck, he might even take Bulis' spot on the 3rd line for the stretch run. He is signed through till next year, but I don't know if that is at a club option or not. I don't know if he will be back - or if he should be back - but for the stretch run it can't hurt us.

It fits the Savard plan
Big, Fast, & Tough...and don't cost nuttin'!
Really Lindsey isn't very old either. Works for me.
I think there may be more coming. I mean whats with the Fiset deal. Is he really better than Garon?

Don't mistake Lindsay for a "tough guy".
He's a poor man's Mike Keane...something along the lines of what Asham should develop into.
If he drops the gloves, it'll be with guys along the lines of Tucker, Nash, Varada, etc.

I like this move...always good getting a solid, veteran, physical warrior before playoff time.
He didn't cost us anything, will be off the books at the end of the year and he can bring some leadership.
We don't need to send down anybody if Gino goes on IR.

It's too bad we couldn't have picked up a D-man with some spunkiness as well, IMO. However, getting a gritty forward like Lindsey has got to be a plus for this team at this point.

I just hope Berezin(time to send him a message) or Van Allen will be the guys sitting in the pressbox and not Hossa or Kilger or Asham

I'm not sure you should get too excited about Bill Lindsay yet. Last Season the Sharks traded for him. They thought he would help in the Playoffs. Well Bill got here and spent most of his time in the Penalty Box and not doing the team much good. They finally got him calmed down so he didn't spend the entire game in the Penalty Box but he still didn't do much for the team and he sure didn't do much for the Sharks in the Playoffs.
I'm hoping for your sakes he does do better for the Habs than he did the Sharks. Maybe he has grown up a little in the past year, but don't put too much into him right now.

TNG, what I was trying to say is that if he acts in Montreal like he did in San Jose, you won't get 3-5 minutes of playing time from him. You might get 30 seconds of playing time from him with 3.5 to 4.5 minutes of his time in the Penalty Box. That sure won't help the Habs any if he spends most of his 3-5 minutes in the Penalty Box.

Thought it's nice to read about a guy comming here
By Michael Russo Staff Writer Posted March 17 2002
SUNRISE · Goalie Trevor Kidd cleared waivers Saturday. Next up, popular left wing Bill Lindsay.
A few hours before the Panthers left for Ottawa on Saturday, General Manager Chuck Fletcher informed Lindsay that he had just been placed on waivers. Lindsay has a chance to be taken by any team before noon Monday.
"I'm disappointed, obviously," Lindsay said. "I was excited the way we have been playing. Even though I wasn't playing a lot, I felt like I was contributing and helping the young guys, and you know I feel comfortable in that role. So this surprises me a little bit."
If unclaimed by today, Lindsay will still be in the lineup tonight when the Panthers, looking to extend their four-game unbeaten streak, meet the Senators at 5.
If Lindsay clears waivers Monday, the Panthers could either keep him or send him to the minors. According to a source Saturday, the Vancouver Canucks were considering picking him up.
Fletcher wouldn't comment, but he must have tried to trade Lindsay without finding a taker. Lindsay has four goals, 11 points and is a minus-11 in 62 games. Averaging only 9:25 of ice time per game, his 182 hits are the fifth most in the NHL for forwards.
"They just said they think they have some injured guys coming back and they want to free up some room, some spots, so this doesn't sound too good for [being here] next year," Lindsay said. "I just have to wait and see."
In his second stint in Florida, the original Panther signed a two-year deal before the season. Lindsay is due to make $700,000 next season.
His 505 games as a Panther is the fifth-most in team history.
"This is just another experience in the hockey world," a visibly glum Lindsay said. "Every day's interesting."

A "guts" pick up. The guys has wooden hands but is ready willing and able to mix it up. When I see Lindsey, I see Wards future.
I like it and the price of picking him up was perfect. Free.

I have liked Lindsey for sometime now but it has been from affar not daily i sure hope he hits and gives his 100% like Ì`m told he does. I like this move , cheap and can set a fire under Kilger and Asham`s behinds to get them going.

Yes, that's what they need. They both need a guy who can steal their jobs right behind them.I wouldn't be surprised at all if they coming out hitting everything tonight.
