HNIC's Headliner show last night focused on Andre Savard and the Montreal Canadiens approaching the trade deadline. Savard said he is not trading anymore this year because his payroll is limited and he will not trade away anymore draft choices.
However, I would look into a couple of potential deals. Edmonton is said to be itching to make a deal. They have won only 8 of their last 26 and have made a number of players available. One I like could be Georges Laracque. I local Montrealer, he has size and a good fourth liner. I heard he could be had at this time real cheap. Bringing him back to his home area could be a shot in the arm for the big guy.
Another team looking to deal is Calgary, who has both Savard and Reghr available. I'm not struck on Savard but Reghr would be a good fit here.
To acquire Laracque or Reghr I would look to move any of Riberio, Bulis or Rivet.
P.S. Did anybody else watch the Headliner last night? What was Gillett trying to do make an idiot of himself? I don't get what he was trying to say about hiring engineers because he was convinced the net could not be tipped-up by a player of Zednik's statue. He's sounded a little lost on that one!

Missed the show. I don't expect a trade but Laraque I'd go for if the price was Ribiero. I'd like to hold on to Bulis though. I think that there might be more to come from him. I believe Savard when he says he's not trading anymore picks. He gave up a 3rd(?) rounder in the Savage deal and I think will have to give up another one if he resigns Berezin who's an RFA this summer.
As to Gillett's comment, well it does sound pretty silly. At least it shows he's involved I suppose.

Laracque for Ribiero? LARACQUE FOR RIBIERO?? I do it in a heartbeat. I even put the little Ribs in one of those styrofoam white boxes, I'll even throw in the garlic sauce. Problem is, who is going to look after Doc Holliday? Hs is going to have a heart attack if AS trades Ribs-for-Done-like-Dinner.
Little George and Komisaurus would instantly convert the complexity of this club. All of a sudden, ALL the Hab's players would grow 6 inches. Next time someone like Varada takes a run at Theo, all Theo has to do is take his mask off, wink at Varada and ask him if he has any final wishes. Meanwhile, Little George is sharpning his teeth. Varada-on-a-bun anybody? Ruuf-ruuf said Ruff.
Please don't tease me with trades like this, I'll lose sleep dreaming about the Mighty Hab's actually having someone who IS mighty. Souray 230 lbs, Komi 260 lbs, George 265 lbs. My God, will the ground support all of them on the ice at the same time? Add Holik.............................sweat dreams are made of this. ;D
As far as the "incident" with the Ranger, it's all a strategy of "us against the world" that Gillett is building behind the scene. Some crazy people only appear crazy.............unless it's Mad Mike or Foule.

Would Calgary do Bulis and Rivet for Reghr? If so that makes it Riberio for Laraque.
This would toughen up the team

laracque would sure look good in a habs joisey. i seem to have the mantra of 'berezin-and-a-d-man, berezin-and-a-d-man...', running through my head [not necessarily for laracque, but as a general trade bait package].
as for gillett. that was just showtime, the boss displaying some rah-rah for his employees. couldn't picture ronald corey going for pr like that [in fact i can - and the image is a magnitude more hilarious than gillett].

I'd love to see Ribeiro for big Georges, but that will never happen. Laracque is the toughest guy in the league, and he can skate, and score the odd goal, and a popular guy in the dressing room. That's a rare commodity. I seriously doubt Edmonton would trade him.

Would Calgary do Bulis and Rivet for Reghr? If so that makes it Riberio for Laraque. This would toughen up the team Calgary would probably trade Regehr for a good young forward. They don't really need a d-man to replace him since they have Petr Buzek to fill in for Regehr and Jordan Leopold who is a stud D prospect turning pro next season.I dunno if Bulis is good enough offensively for their liking... Ribeiro for Laraque...man, give me a bib I am drooling. No way does Edmonton do it, they are pretty small up front(Comrie, Marchant,Hecht, Reasoner, Swanson, Cleary, etc).

Laraque has been benched recently and put on the fourth line. Edmonton is trying to make a deal to make the playoffs. But I agree Riberio is not enough...but maybe Bulis.
Man....I don't know what it is but my computer has slowed right down tonight
