I know we've talked about this already, but heck, the guy is cheap, he knows the city and he's been well-liked by his team mates where ever he played.
Doc pointed out that Uly hasn't been as agressive as he was in the past. Could it be he just needs a change of scenery? Hard to say, but I don't think it would hurt us to bring him on board if only to remind a few lads what it takes to earn respect.
Mind you if it's Therrien holding our players back, I don't think Ulanov's acquisition would make a difference.
Just a thought. cheers.

Does NY pay the majority of his salary and we only pay him 300K or something for this year?

This reminds me of an old MAD magazine article where the writer (wish I could remember who), depicted cliches as monsters. The one that sticks in my mind is "On the horns of a dilemna" where some poor schmuck is trying to balance on a gruesome creature's Spanish bull type horns. And that's what Ulanov is like. On one hand he'd bring grit to the Scotties little softies defence and on the other hand he'll cost us something in a bad decision or five. Heck, he couldn't make any worse decisions than some of the guys we already have, so why not? As long as it doesn't cost us much.

And he could help Markov.Remember, Ulanov was the one who told Petrov to not give up after he was sent to Quebec at the start of the 1999-2000.

If we were talking about acquiring one of the top defensive d-men in the game I'd be all for it. Scott Stevens, Adam Foote, Jon Klemm, solid stay at home defencemen that can affect an entire team.
Ulanov is almost a liability out there at this stage of the game. He just isn't that good, and to be honest I'm sick of being the change of scenery team. I want to be the team that gets the proven player that won't disappoint. Since we all know that's not happening anytime soon we have to bring up Hainsey.
It'll break him in for next year and we can give him all the PP time he can handle. The kid's ready, get him up, and Robidas and Traverse the hell out!

Leave Hainsey with the Cits.We saw what MT has done with Markov and Ribeiro this year, do you want him to do the same with Hainsey? I don't.Let him dominate the AHL before calling him up.By the way, he suffered a pectoral injury or something like that last week and could be out until next week.(Accoring to Cits coach on CKAC yesterday)

Well I can't argue there, MT will be doing him no favours by bestowing his infinite knowledge upon him.
I'd still love to see him up here. If Hainsey and Markov are not mainstays on our D next year I'm gonna spit.

I don't want any one from the Rangers. They have a worse cancer than we do. Ulanov is a hasbeen which is why he's on the rangers.
The only way i would bring up Hainsey would be to tell him that he's coming up for 5 games, no more, just to get a feel for next year. That way you get him a feel, we get a look, and you minimize the damage MT will cause by sitting him after he plays some great hockey. Can anyone name one player that you can say boy it's wonderful how MT brings out the best in this player? He's a curse. Let's not spoil the young talent who haven't been exposed and contaminated yet. MT will be gone soon enough.

Ulanov would be a serious upgrade over the stiffs we have rotating as the 6th d-man now...Robidas, Traverse and Bouillon. We need someone that's not afraid to hit and has the size to back it up. The problem is, MT will bench anyone that has the jewels to play with an edge. No wonder this team plays like such wussies. The coach wants it that way. I'd love to have Ulanov back, but not if he can't play his game. MAybe we could trade MT for him. Do the Rangers need an asst. minor league coach for their East Coast League affiliate?

Listening to the game on the radio, they were talking about Ulanov:
1- The guy said he'd like to come back to Montreal and would be willing to take a pay cut to do so.
2- Still according to Igor, Berezin's hearth and mind are still in Toronto.
