That's the question. Will this team FINALLY outshoot someone? facing Schwab or 'Squab' as some have called him here, the game plan should be shoot pucks from everywhere on him...*sigh* I guess we will see about 15 Habs shots tonight.

Hi Guys,
Between my Leafs board and job interviews I don't have much time to visit HabsRus right now. I've recently recruited an Assistant Moderator, so hopefully when I become employed again I'll be able to visit more often.
I have no idea how the game will turn out tonight, but I wanted to let you know my absence after the game tonight will not be reflected on it's outcome.
I have 3 grandsons, 2 of which are Hockey and Sharks fans. I've taken them to a few games already this season. I wanted them to also attend a game this season with a Canadian team. Since they live 81 miles east of me (which is still Sharks viewing territory) I can only take them to Friday and Saturday games. The only Canadian team to play in San Jose on the weekend this season is the Vancouver Canucks. I took Sean, my middle grandson, to see the Canucks the first weekend in November. Unfortunately tonight is the other night the Canucks are in San Jose, so I'm taking my youngest grandson, L.J. to see the Canucks tonight.
We will be going to the Shark Tank early today so L.J. can get some autographs, so that's why I'll miss the game. We need to be at the Tank by 3:30pm Pacific Time in order for him to get the autographs. I'm hoping next season that a different Canadian Team is in San Jose on the Weekend. What would be really cool is if the Habs would come to San Jose next season on the Weekend. If they do, I'm going to take both of them to that game. They need to see at least one of the Canadian teams from the Original 6.
You already know how I want tonight's game with the Leafs and Habs to go, but whatever happens, happens. With Cujo, Almo and Yushkie all out with injuries, that's a good portion of the decent part of the team.
I'll be watching the electronic signs around the Arena tonight for the out of town scores. They should show them between Period 1 and the 1st intermission. I hope the game goes as I would like it to go, but if it doesn't then I will congratulate you guys tomorrow. I hate the Leafs to lose, but I'm a good sport so I can be gracious when they lose.

That was me, I confess. I don't normally distort people's names because it's not nice and it's petty, but (there's always a but) I couldn't resist turning Corey into a pigeon dish. In any case, he'll probably have the game of his life tonight (and only let in 12 goals). Seriously (that's getting harder and harder for me as the season wears on) I don't hold out much hope. MT has depressed even me. I sit back and wonder, why are his obvious failings ignored by his employers and the Montreal media? The inevitable conclusion to such mass incompetence is that the players stop trying. They know their efforts are in vain because MT will find some way around them. He reminds me of Dilbert's boss...nothing inane is beyond him. Do only true Hab fans care? Seems that way. I predict we will not only miss the playoffs, but we'll miss them by 7 - 10 points. And MT will get another contract extension. At double his current salary. Dilbertism.

Pam, have fun.It should be a great game. The Nucks have a great attack and SJ is certainly capable of scoring goals(they would score a ton if Sutter understood that).I am pretty sure your game will be a hell of alot better than the Habs one.

EArly observations, and they all relate to coaching. ÊThe Hab defensemen seem very inclined to put the puck off the glass and out, even when they have time to look up and move the puck to a forward. (?) Ê
Asham was looking really good early on, which ensured he would spend the rest of the period on the bench. ÊCan you explain that please? Ê
Habs don't win many 1 on 1 battles. ÊAs has been happening all year. Ê
(end of the period)
Man, are we zombies out there. And anyone who thinks Quintal offers absolutely anything to this team outside of some effort, should review that first period and see how many times he's put us in a bad situation by taking the wrong guy, by letting people get angles on him, by not switching off when it was obvious Gilmour couldn't get to Green, by putting passes in players skates instead of their stick, by trying to stickhandle when he should pass....etc. etc. etc. A clinic in how not to play defense. Who's frustrated?

1-0 Leafs after 1.
We played great in the first few minutes but after that, the Leafs took over.Asham was FREAKIN hitting everything in sight. He didn't even play a second after.Stupid Therrien.Kilger and Rivet were physical, too.
What the heck happened on the Green goal? even journeyman can look like scorers when you give them all that time and space.
And to conclude...5 shots? absolutely embarassing.

1-1 after 2.Juneau tied the game with a PP goal.
On that goal, great play by Brisebois and a simple wrist shot by Markov towards the net and a nifty tip in by Juneau.Markov continues to get better.Last year or early this year, he would have tried the big slap shot, sometimes it works, most of the time the puck goes into the glass or the crowd. Now, all he does is put the puck the on goal and as we saw last week with Gilmour and tonight with Juneau,a simple tip in and we get a PP goal.

and what a save by Theo on Sundin...and was that puck over the line? that call could be huge.

1-1 tie the final. Why didn't we go for it in OT? we won't catch T.O. anyways!
Man, I hate Therrien.2nd game in 2 night.Everybody seems DRAINED, so who does he put out in OT? not the guys with fresh, young legs(Markov, Bulis, Zednik) but the veterans.Juneau, Gilmour, Perreault.Look, I know you are in a playoff race, but the guys who are most likely to have something left in the tank are the ones who are young, who have speed and who have offensive talent.
No wonder we have 1 win in OT all year.

His silliness is so obvious to me that I sent Jack Todd an e-mail asking him why there's no criticism of the coaching staff at all in the media. I just sent it a few minutes ago. Let you know if I get an answer in the coming week.

Juneau did adequately against Sundin. The official scoresheet shows Sundin finished the night with 9 shots. Thank Theodore for holding Sundin to just shots.
It seemed the Habs were always "just a little late", or "just missing on that lead pass." I don't remember seeing a team overskate the puck as often as the Habs did.
The Leafs seemed to be much more organized even with injuries to key players. Had they a full team, it would have been disasterous for us. Moreover, it seemed the Leafs just had better hockey basics. I don't know why, it just seemed that way for some reason.
It was a frustrating game but we'll take the point nonetheless. Territorially it was all Toronto it seemed. Cheers.

We just can't compete in OT. We don't have the wheels.
This is my second attempt to post after the game. The first post didn't take for some reason.
From what I saw tonight the Leafs were one step ahead of us all game. We had too many, "...it just rolled off of the end of his stick," or " ... that pass was just a little too far ..." or even, ".. he overskated the puck.
More specifically, the Leafs looked organized dispite having injuries to key players. Their transittion game is far superior to ours and might have been one of the reasons they had the territiorial edge all night. They also seemed to have better hockey basics. Now, I'm not an expert by any means but it was the impression I got. The Leafs did all of the little things right.
Joe Juneau has a better appreciation for Jose Theodore. Theodore is the reason Sundin didn't cash in on any of his 9 shots. From what I understand Sundin also won 70% of his faceoffs. Still, had Therrien pulled Juneau off of his assignment, I don't know who else he could have put on in his place.
We'll take the point but it would have been nice to have gotten the extra point for Theodore; he deserved it. Cheers.
