Friday in Buffalo will be a tense affair. The Habs will not instigate nastiness but Ruff-led Sabre clubs have not hesitated to force the issue. Who thinks the stage is set for a clean but tense game? For dirty play leading to brawling in last meeting between foes this season?
For me, Habs not likely to come out serving tough stuff but MT should demand the troops protect Theodore.
If Ribeiro is on the 4th line for this one, I would be at a loss for words...Asham needs to be deputised for this one (he may need more than 1:28. after all, a deputy without a horse isn't worth much). Asham is feisty but not much of an irritant. I would like him to take his pound-for-pound toughness (which is really impressive) and wake up angry more days.
And, of course, MT needs to remind the Sheriff, Odjick, that fighting is part of his job description.
Is Van Allen so indispensable to the PK? I was thinking (half kidding) that Asham should centre Odjick and Belanger on the 4th line.
I can't put my finger on it (not like they have any Cup's in their trophy case), but Buffalo really irks me and I hope the boys are ready for what will be an intense and maybe ugly game.

I would love to see a clean, physical, hard hitting game.Playoff hockey ;D
But, let's hope we will still have something left in the tank to beat those stinkin Leafs on Saturday! ;D

Asham has to be wondering what's going on. The guy comes up in terrific shape, with a great attitude, pots a few goals (and not ugly ones by any means), stays out of the box unless he takes a guy with him for 5, and plays sound enough D to get to +7 in about 7 games. And all he gets for that is the press-box and the end of the bench. If Berezin, Petrov, Gilmour, Perreault, Juneau, Bulis and Zednik can't get us enough goals to win (esp. with our goaltending) then Mike Ribeiro is not going to make the difference. Asham should be in the line-up. Ribeiro should not. I don't want to discuss it any further. As far as I'm concerned, the case is closed.

Ribeiro should not. I don't want to discuss it any further. As far as I'm concerned, the case is closed. Well, I've let you take every shots in the world at Ribeiro lately without picking up the challenge but you keep calling and my answering machine is full. Obviously Ribeiro got all the breaks in the world to make it and now that he went for a dozen game or so without producing let's hang him, send him to the minors, waive him, whatever fits so we can forget about him and move on. Right? How dare he doesn't display consistency on his first real season at 21... We should all forget that he was for 30 some games one of the best point getter on this team and was invited to the All-Star game. We should forget that his curent slump was induced by Therrien when he transferred him to right wing (a position he never played) to play Berezin in a spot he was just getting accustom to. We should not take into account that he burned the juniors. We should overlook that he was the best player in Quebec last year. We should toss aside the fact that he was the best player in camp. Overlook the fact that despite all that was said about him being soft and fearful, he displayed more grit and heart along the boards then most. I always end up having to take Ribeiro's side, always. And I can't understand why. Just looking at his award case should be enough to make anyone realize that the guy is special: QMJHL All rookie team, QMJHL second All Star Team, QMJHL Top Rookie Forward, QMJHL First All Star Team, QMJHL Jean Beliveau Trophy (top scorer), CHL First All Star Team, CHL Leading Scorer and NHL Youg Star team. While we should all be crossing our fingers hoping HE can take his game to the NHL, devellop, work on his flaws and finally be that special offensive player to come out of our system, we concentrate on the things we think will prevent him from breaking out and hope he won't get better and be discarded as promptly as possible. As a fan, I just can't help hoping a promising rookie will pan out.

I've been thinking the same thing about Asham's case. He did so well when brought up. One would have thought that he would have continued to get a goodly amount of playing time; ride the kid's hot streak, build his confidence and all that. Perhaps we might end up with a legitimate 3rd line forward. At the very least, keep playing Asham until he starts to cool off. As it is now, the kid's probably sitting there thinking "what'd I do wrong?" and pretty well demoralized. Perplexing player development approach, to say the least.

Personally, I think both Asham and Ribs should play, but Mike has to be a left wing. Everywhere else, he's not the same. Asham can be a useful player and, interestingly, I believe he was a centre in juniour so why not try him there as Jacques has suggested.
Speaking of the Wings, whoops I mean Sabres, (those two really should swap their names), they have put together a couple of victories and are moving up. We need to snuff them tomorrow, dash their hopes, pillage their town, break their backs, have our way with their women and thusly eliminate them from the playoff race.

Here's hoping it's a good one. I'm heading to the game 11th row from the ice. The only good thing about Buffalo is that you can get tickets the week of the game and pretty much pick where you want to sit. Oh and the wings of course. ;D

Doc, I don't think people here want to get rid of Ribs, they just don't think he is ready for the NHL yet.You can see something is missing in his game.He needs to get stronger. He needs to increase his speed. The talent is there, he just needs a little more seasoning in the minors.ESPECIALLY, if the Habs play him on a 4th line, at RW or don't play him at all.Better to have him dominate with the Cits, get them deep into the playoffs than stay here at ruin his confidence.
I also think both Asham and Ribs should be in our everyday lineup.Screw Van Allen and Odjick or Robidas as a forward.

Sabres won 5-0 against the Isles tonight.I dunno if we should be happy or not. They probably can't play any better or they could be loaded with confidence...who knows?

Doc's and JV's Ribiero fights are gaining legendary status. One with Rib'Love and the other with the-only-good-thing-about-Ribs-is-when-they-are-bbq.
Personally, I have said it over and over. 15 lbs and a quicker first step. Something he can do in tghe offseason. Then I will fall in love.
