Just looking at some stats I found that Mike Ribeiro is 3rd in hits among our forwards. 2nd in hits/per game (behind Kilger). I realize he hasn't knocked anyone out with thundering body checks but it does put the "Ribeiro is soft" rant in perspective.

I think shows how bad and soft are forwards are more than anything.
There is a saying in hockey, your scorers need to score, your checkers need to check, your defence needs to defend and your goalie need to stop the puck.Ribeiro is a scorer, and we need him to score or at least help us score.

Agree but Ribeiro won't get out of his slump playing 4 minutes a game with Robidas and Asham. His slump, BTW, is Therrien-induced when he got transferred to the right wing. I don't know where Therrien got that any player can play any position at any time and remain focus and productive.
I am not saying Ribs should put back on the second line at all cost, but MT should increase his 4th line playing time (8-10 mins) and get Robidas outa there. Hossa or Chewy could be called up instead.

Doc, Now you know I hate to disagree with you, but, but, but telling me that Ribiero is a "hitter". Well, uhh, well it makes me think of a poodle in a dog fight. A French poodle in a dog fight, arghhhhhhhhh.......... I can hear Robinson turning to Holik and CO. warning them, in a loud and fatherly voice. ......"Ribiero is out there, lets be carefull".... , Sheesh. If I was Rivet and saw that stat, I would go out there and cripple half the Thrashers the next game. Did I say cripple? Uggg, Richardian of me. ;D

Oh yeah, absolutely.Funny how Ribs has done squat ever since Therrien started playing Odjick(for a few minutes per game) with Perreault and Zednik in Washington. Then,we acquired Berezin and Ribeiro has just not developed any chemistry with him. I still think Mike would do better if he was playing with Zed(they have obvious chemistry together) and a banger.A guy like Asham... As for Robidas, let's just hope he is playing his last game with the Habs. Please, don't use him at forward!

Marc made the right point. And so true about Ribs production dropping off. He looked pretty good at left wing a few weeks ago, but I swear, whenever MT sees a young guy doing well, he changes something up to disrupt him.

Yup.That is why Ron Hainsey and Marcell Hossa are right at home in Quebec for the rest of the year. By the way,my mind is screwed up,is Berezin a LW?? or a RW?? I guess he is a LW,because Ribs was moved to RW and that has screwed him up,but something tells me I am wrong.

While I may be able to accept that MT has a problem finding a place for Ribs on the first two lines there is no excuse for not playing him on the PP if he's going to be dressed. Our PP has been pathetic and Ribs can play any of the positions and add some creativity to what is otherwise a pretty boring, predictable, and unproductive PP

I don't think Doc's implying Ribs is the second coming of Tocchet, but he does make the point that Ribs doesn't play soft. He's very tiny, but for his size he's relatively strong on the puck. When he was up the first time he looked intimidated by everyone on the ice. I held my breath everytime he was on the ice for fear he'd be killed. He'd definitely got some filling out to do, but he's become much more comfortable with the physical side of the game.
Too bad he's only seeing spot action now. I thought this year might be his coming out party, but alas MT has coached him right back into the doghouse.
Bad Ribs, showing too much flare and skill...now get on the 4th line, skate only in straight lines along the boards, and back-check. Oh yes, here comes the cup.
