I know some people feel a bit uncomfortable with this format, but it seems that it is now the norm. HF just went to the same format. If you go there, well, you will grow hair on your palms and go blind. Plus, you will stunt your growth.  |

I've noticed that all the free forums are going to this format now. It used to be you had the choice of the old format or this style of format. Forum Onecenter, where I did have my board, still has the old format and also this format. When I decided I'd had enough of Onecenter's downtime I spent parts of two days looking at other free forums. They were all basically in this format. I decided to go with Proboards because CO is on it and because I liked it better than the other free forums.
I still like the old string type best, especially when you can see all the replies directly below that post like Onecenter has it, but time marchs on, so we have to change with the times.

Call me old fashioned but I kinda like the old format better. I like seeing everything laid out in front of me, plus you could answer specific posts. With this you just kind of dump your post in line and sometimes it puts it out of context. And it's kinda claustrophobic.
As for the graphics, I don't really care. I'm not into cute or whatever. For me, it's the content that counts.
But, eh, go with the flow.

That's why I liked my Forum Onecenter Leafschat Board. Now I'm forced to go with this format. Lots of people like this format, so since they prefer it, I have to go with the majority. Too bad Proboards doesn't offer that string format along with all the graphics. I like the graphics Proboards offers us. |
