Sportsnet.ca -- Former Montreal Canadien Rob Ramage will be in an Ontario provincial court Tuesday as part of a preliminary hearing stemming from Ramage's involvement in the Dec. 15, 2003 car crash which killed another former NHLer, Keith Magnuson. Ramage was charged with impaired driving causing death and dangerous driving causing death, the impaired charge carries a maximum sentence of life in prison. The accident occurred on Rutherford Road in the York Region, with reports indicating the car driven by Ramage crossed the centre line into oncoming traffic. There is a publication ban at the hearing. Away from the legal hearings, Magnuson's surviving family has filed a wrongful death suit against Ramage and National Car Rental -- who rented to the ex-Leaf on the day of the crash. Originally the Magnuson family supported Ramage during his time in hospital after the crash, but now due to the personal and financial losses, a civil suit has been introduced. Despite the lawsuit, it is believed the two families remain close.
