I don't think I have ever seen Terry Gregson give Montreal a break. Ever. The guy always seems to have it in for us.
He has long been one of my least favorite referees.

Boy what a dumb play by Kilger...
during a 4min penalty to Ribs, Chad hooks and holds Elias like there is no tomorrow IN THE OFFENSIVE ZONE...
Stupid penalty
5 on 3...

Still 1-0 HABS
Theo did some miracles so did Brodeur. Second period is much better then the first.
Great open ice hit by Kilger followed by another hammer 10secs later to the same poor dmen...

aaarrrrrrrrrrrgh! Quintal missed a golden opportunity, alone in the slot following a major league pass by Perreault with 2 secs remaining... Beat Brodeur but shot wide...
would have been nice to start the 3rd with a 2 goals lead...
...Look for the Devs to come out like gangbuster in the 3rd.

Théodore has made a couple of incredible saves.... Brodeur robbed Perrault..... I hope Théo can hold up, we really need these 2 points.
I just wish that the TQS guys would say Berezin in French and not in English - the guy is Russian, say his name in your normal language - beside which the French pronunciation is closer to the actual Russian one.

We're really giving the Devils a lesson in defensive hockey thus far, I've been thoroughly impressed. Our defence is clearing pucks out of the slot and out of the zone right quick, with the exception of that trouble they had near the end of the second.
How about that save on Perreault, was that major-league netminding, or what? I'd already yelled, "et le but!" out loud before realising that he'd snared it in that bloody rapier glove hand of his.

rapier glove hand of his. I miss Danny Gallivan (sp?). Cannonatting was another favorite word he used. Wish I could see this game. Sounds like the goaltenders are putting on a show! Soon, very soon!!

Shots on goal by Montreal 4 6 7 17 New Jersey 5 5 7 17
Was the game really that boring? Or was it a great defensive game? (Sorry, I cannot watch it here...)
Doesn't really matter I guess... We just won a 4pt game and pole-vaulted ahead of NJ!!!
Final score 1-0

Simply an outstanding effort by all!
Great game to watch if you're into sound defensive error-free hockey. Man for man they were tight. Of course Theo was perfect....absolutely world-class, elite, perfect. In fact a great netminder in his own right, Glenn "Chico" Resch, said of him during tonight's telecast out of NJ that Theo has established himself as one of the elite in the league and will be so for many years to come!
Outstanding. A BIG 4-pointer!
I can see the light...can you?

Not prepared to see any lights yet but it was a critical win. The habs gotta win all of these 4 pointers. Another coming up next vs the Pens.
Missed the ame but checked the stats, the team spent minute and a half more in Devils zone than their own and only gave up 3 giveaways. Like everybody's been saying error free hockey.
Only one question- were the Devils applying major forechecking pressure? If they were this is a significant achievment for the boys as that has been a killer for them all season.

Evenin' HW The Devs had a horrible time for most of the game as the trap was in full force tonight. Our boys bottled up the middle, picked up their checks, and for the most part, avoided the forecheck attempt by clearing the zone safely either thru crisp tape to tape passing or safely off the glass. Of course they were not impenetrable, despite what the shots against may show, the Devs DID have at least a half-dozen quality pokes at Theo, but alas, he was stellar. Some call this boring hockey, but I like when players execute their assignments to a "T". Both teams played well...we just played better, and were rewarded for it. A big "4" indeed...and yup, I can still see the light. They're playing for each other now. Similar to our '99-'00 team. When that happens, the odds shift...our way. CO

Winning in Washington about two weeks ago in one the most important game of the year and now beating the Devils in NJ tell in another 4 pts game tells a lot about how our team is ready to face everything in front of them to make the post-season.
6th place in the Eastern in definitly a goal possible to reach without a doubt.
However, the power-play is a concern.. we need somehow to find a good quarter-back somewhere and be more agressive in front of the net.
Anyway great job all around.

The problem with the power play plast night was the same as it always is against the Devils. You can't carry it into the zone, because they're lined up at the blue line waiting for you. You can't dump it in and chase it, because Brodeur'll beat you to the puck and clear it himself.
They have to devise a method of gaining the zone and actually ensuring that they're first on the puck. A diagonal shoot-in by the defencemen at the red line while the forwards are still in full flight would be one way, I'd think. They were thwarted so many times last night.
They'd dump it in while everyone was standing still at the blueline, and invariably Brodeur would get there first and clear it himself, or pass to a defenceman who would.

It shows Brisebois is missing, though our PP was struggling even when he was there. Audette is dearly missed for his abilities down low to feast on rebounds and loose pucks.
How does Robidas goes from the press box to logging the most icetime for dmen is beyond me. He isn't nearly as bad as he was a month ago but certainly not good enough to play as much as he did. But hey, we won so it's tough to criticize.
I don't think I'll ever be able to get into Therrien's mind and figure out what his triggers are. Mind you nobody were ever able to figure out what Bowman's triggers are...
