You can't verify a rumour....
Anyhow, I doubt STL would go for Hack - if they go for a goalie it'll be someone with some kind of a decent track record in the playoffs. Dafoe, Barrasso, Richter, who knows.
They might be willing to give him a chance though, if they are sure Johnson is the guy they want to hang onto - but still, with Hack being iffy this season, I'm not sure he'd be all that attractive.
Who knows, but I don't think it's likely.

I agree that Hack will not be seen as a 'solution' by St Louis as he resides right near the bottom in GAA and Save %. I doubt tho whether the Bruins would move Defoe as he's their main man and with him missing a lot of games last year due to injuries the Bruins fell out of the playoffs. Same with Richter as I doubt the Rangers would be ready to rely on Blackburn, although that could change if they crash and burn before the trading deadline and decide to rebuild.
But, as you say, who knows.

I mentionned Dafoe because he'll be a UFA - maybe Boston will think they are better off trading him for some kind of return than letting him go, if they think Grahame can do well enough they'll give it a go.
Richter would only be available if NYR got some other goalie - maybe even Hack.
I was just trying to say that other goalies fit STL's needs far more than Hack.
I still think STL will want to get a better goalie, but I don't think it'll be Hack, though Hack might be involved to help some other team be ready to deal their own #1. Phoenix, Boston, NYR, Philly (Cechmanek), heck, maybe even TO, might be willing to deal their #1's to STL if they had a decent replacement #1.
I think Hackett to Boston and Dafoe to STL might be the best fit, but MTL would have to give BOS some assurances about Hack - ie, if he sucks badly BOS won't want to be stuck with his full salary.

Even Hackett at his best shouldn't be a guy you acquire to win a cup.I am sure STL will go with Brent Johnson.Who knows,he could be their Chris Osgood(when the Wings won the cup).

I think the Bruins will keep Dafoe until the end of the year, but will not re-sign him this summer. They will take his salary and try to re-sign Guerin.I think Bruins will want to give the job to Grahame and try to pick up a good veteran goalie(Hackett,Shields,Brathwaite) to help him out.At least that is what the Bruins board at HF have been saying.
